Bedding is bagged and sealed inside the room, then washed and dried hot. Steam runs along the seams and edges, because heat reaches the cemented eggs that a liquid never will.

Targeted, non-repellent application

A non-repellent product goes onto the harbourage itself, with a dust into voids and screw holes. We do not use a repellent aerosol, because it drives the insect deeper into the wall and into the next room.

Monitoring and the follow-up visit

A sealed encasement goes onto the mattress and the base, with monitors under the bed legs, then we return once the remaining eggs have hatched and re-treat anything still active.

We are moving between the port side and the inland side across Al Dhahab Street, does the furniture need checking?

Yes. Even a short move within the same quarter can carry bed bugs if they are hiding in a single piece of furniture, so it is worth checking anything you move between the two sides, however close they are.

A shop below us sells second hand clothing bales brought in from the port, is that a risk?

Imported bales can carry bed bugs from wherever they were packed, and if that shop shares an entrance or ventilation with your flat, checking the stairwell and entrance regularly reduces the chance of them travelling upstairs.

Cracked old wood opens up gaps just as fine as a mattress seam, and spraying the surface will not reach them. The joints and splits in the shutter need to be opened and treated directly during the visit.

We split our old flat into small rooms let to single workers, does each room need its own inspection?

Each room let to a different tenant is treated as its own unit, because every occupant's furniture and bags carry a different history, so the inspection covers every room separately, however small it is.

A luggage repair shop downstairs takes in damaged travellers' suitcases, is that a risk?

Damaged cases coming off long journeys are among the easiest things for bed bugs to travel in, and if that shop shares your building's entrance, checking the stairwell and shared entrance regularly matters more than checking the flat alone.

A relative back from months of work away brought his sealed luggage straight in, does it need checking?

Luggage kept sealed for a long stretch is exactly the kind of place bed bugs can survive in without feeding, so it is best checked before it is unpacked in the bedroom, and kept away from the bed itself in the meantime.
