Cockroach control in Al Hindawiyah Jeddah

Al Hindawiyah is an old, densely built district beside Jeddah Islamic Port, where more than two hundred shops trade at street level under the flats above. Groceries and stores take in cartons straight off the port, so a German cockroach can ride upstairs through shared walls. We start with the business below, not the kitchen alone.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in Al Hindawiyah

In Al Hindawiyah we often trace the breeding site to the back of a display fridge in a ground-floor grocery, while the cockroaches people notice are turning up in the flat directly above. The method is set out in full on our Cockroach control service.

The first reason

The shop below is the source

Most flats in Al Hindawiyah sit on top of a shop or store near the port, taking in cartons and goods that can carry German cockroaches and their eggs. Treating the flat on its own achieves little while the business underneath goes unchecked, so we deal with both together.

The second reason

Old pipework everyone shares

The drainage in Al Hindawiyah's older blocks is worn and connected between units, and American cockroaches climb up through soakaways and floor drains. We seal and treat these routes, because otherwise they simply return from below however clean the kitchen is kept.

The third reason

The neighbour who never treated

High density and party walls mean a single untreated unit is enough to reseed cockroaches across the whole building through cracks and service columns. That is why we follow their route between adjoining units rather than working inside your flat alone.

Before treatment

The species and the place decide the method

The old, terraced buildings here share single drain stacks and vent columns between units, so what rises from a floor drain in a ground-floor shop can reach the kitchens in the flats above it after dark.

A small light brown German cockroach

German cockroach

Here the German cockroach usually arrives inside cartons of stock from the shops next door, then settles in the tight flat kitchens near warmth and moisture.

A larger dark cockroach on a wooden surface

American cockroach

The American cockroach comes up from Al Hindawiyah's old soakaways and shared drains, showing itself in ground floors and the stores that back onto the port.

An oven and gas hob beneath wooden shelving

Appliance heat

Display fridges and shop appliances left running all day give the cockroach steady warmth, so it breeds behind them before moving up into the kitchen of the flat above.

A kitchen with a fridge; the gap behind it is a classic nest

The gap behind the fridge

The gap behind the fridge in these small, crowded kitchens stays warm and dark, and it is the first place we check, because eggs are glued into its hidden corners.

A tap carrying water droplets

Water before food

Cockroaches look for water before food, and the leaking old pipes under the sinks in Al Hindawiyah's buildings supply exactly that, so we deal with the damp first.

A dimly lit kitchen at night

What you see at night

What you see at night when a Hindawiyah kitchen light snaps on is the few that bolt; most stay hidden in the wall cracks shared with the shop or the neighbour.

How we work

  1. 1

    Inspect and identify

We work through the kitchen, the bathrooms and the drain runs, and establish the species, the harbourage points and the moisture keeping them there.

  2. 2

    Treat the harbourage

Gel bait into joints and cracks, targeted spray where it is warranted, and dust in the dry voids behind appliances.

  3. 3

    Close what can be closed

We point out the gaps, the drain entries and anything needing a plumber, because exclusion does more to stop a return than repeating the spray.

  4. 4

    The follow-up visit

We come back once the surviving egg cases have hatched, check the points and re-treat where needed.

What cockroach control includes

  • A technician inspecting with a flashlight

    A recorded inspection

Species, harbourage points and moisture sources, established before anything is applied.

  • A gloved hand applying bait into a joint

    Placed gel bait

In cabinet joints, cracks and behind appliances, where the insect actually travels.

  • A spray nozzle in close detail

    Targeted spray where needed

On runways and junctions, never on preparation surfaces or open floors.

  • A metal floor drain

    Drain and entry treatment

Floor traps, shafts and pipe entries, which is where the larger species comes from.

  • A clean kitchen counter after treatment

    Aftercare instructions

Ventilation, what to cover, and when surfaces can be cleaned without undoing the work.

  • The visit report being written on a clipboard

    A scheduled follow-up

A set date after the first treatment, and re-treatment of anything still active.

Questions about this district

Should the shop under my flat be treated too?

If there is a shop or store beneath your flat taking in goods, it is usually the feeding and breeding source. We inspect and treat it alongside your home, with the owner's agreement where possible, because treating the flat on its own leaves the source working directly below you.

My neighbour sprayed and now they are in my flat

In terraced buildings like these, spraying one unit drives cockroaches through the walls to the neighbours rather than killing them. The answer is bait they carry back to the nest, not a repellent that only scatters them, together with treating the connected units.

Why are the ground floors here worst affected?

Ground floors in Al Hindawiyah sit closest to the soakaways, drains and stores, and hold more damp and stacked cartons. That makes them the first point of entry, and from there the American cockroach climbs to the upper floors at night.

Our building is old with shared pipes, does that matter?

Yes. Shared, worn pipework means the nest may sit in a drain stack serving several flats rather than in your kitchen. We follow those lines and treat the shared openings, so what we clear does not simply come back from another unit.

Can cockroaches arrive with port goods and cartons?

Near the port a great deal of stock moves in cartons and on pallets, and German cockroaches and their eggs often hide inside them. We advise checking incoming cartons before storing them, and keeping them away from the wall shared with the flat.

Do you treat the groceries and stores below the homes?

Yes, and in Al Hindawiyah that is often the right approach: we treat the shop and the home together because they share the same walls and pipes. Treating one and leaving the other keeps the breeding cycle open between them.

How much does cockroach control in Al Hindawiyah cost?

It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Al Hindawiyah.
