Why they keep coming back in Al Nazlah Al Yamaniyah

Working through this quarter, we find bed bugs sheltering in stone mortar joints inside the old Hijazi houses, while in the newer blocks next door they sit behind plasterboard skirting instead. The method is set out in full on our Bed bug control service.

Parts of the district still hold Hijazi houses with thick stone walls and old timber, right beside newer concrete apartment blocks. That gap in age changes where bed bugs settle, from mortar joints in one home to plasterboard seams a few doors along.

How we work

Inspect and map the spread

We strip the bed and work through the mattress and base seams, the frame joints, the headboard and the skirting, then check the upholstered furniture and the neighbouring rooms to see how far it has gone.

Laundry, heat and steam

Bedding is bagged and sealed inside the room, then washed and dried hot. Steam runs along the seams and edges, because heat reaches the cemented eggs that a liquid never will.

Targeted, non-repellent application

A non-repellent product goes onto the harbourage itself, with a dust into voids and screw holes. We do not use a repellent aerosol, because it drives the insect deeper into the wall and into the next room.

Monitoring and the follow-up visit

A sealed encasement goes onto the mattress and the base, with monitors under the bed legs, then we return once the remaining eggs have hatched and re-treat anything still active.

Yes. A chest kept closed for long stretches is a comfortable hiding place for bed bugs in its wood joints and inner corners, so it should be checked inside and out before it is opened again for an occasion.

Our old house has a stone bench built into the wall with fixed cushions, does that get checked?

Yes. Fixed cushions on a built-in stone bench are lifted and checked the same way as any upholstered chair, because their seams and corners can shelter bed bugs just as easily as ordinary furniture.

Three brothers share a bunk bed because our flat is small, do you check both bunks?

Yes. Each level of a bunk bed is checked on its own, because the top bunk can be affected without the bottom one, or the other way round, depending on which child sleeps where and what bedding they use.

We opened an internal door between our flat and my uncle's on the same floor, do both need checking?

Yes. An open internal door effectively turns two flats into one space as far as bed bugs are concerned, so treating only one side leaves a way in through the door if the other flat is left unchecked.
