How we work

Inspect and map the spread

We strip the bed and work through the mattress and base seams, the frame joints, the headboard and the skirting, then check the upholstered furniture and the neighbouring rooms to see how far it has gone.

Laundry, heat and steam

Bedding is bagged and sealed inside the room, then washed and dried hot. Steam runs along the seams and edges, because heat reaches the cemented eggs that a liquid never will.

Targeted, non-repellent application

A non-repellent product goes onto the harbourage itself, with a dust into voids and screw holes. We do not use a repellent aerosol, because it drives the insect deeper into the wall and into the next room.

Monitoring and the follow-up visit

A sealed encasement goes onto the mattress and the base, with monitors under the bed legs, then we return once the remaining eggs have hatched and re-treat anything still active.

Yes. Where the walls and garden fencing of neighbouring beach rest houses touch, vents and shared pipe runs give bed bugs an easy route across, so we check the party wall from inside each rest house rather than treating either one on its own.

Our villa has a private gate to the beach, do the loungers we bring in for winter need checking?

Yes. Lounger cushions that sit in sand and coastal damp all summer need checking before they come into the bedrooms for winter, because salt cracked fabric hides bed bugs better than an ordinary indoor cushion cover does.

Visitors sit on our roof to watch Jeddah Tower, does that sofa need regular checking?

That roof sofa only gets used on the odd occasion when people gather to watch the tower's progress, and that gap between uses does not stop an infestation, it only delays when you notice it, so we still include it in the routine check even though it sees little sitting time.

Yes. Anything fabric or upholstered that comes from outside the house is worth checking before it goes in, since public beach chairs pass between many different families and can carry eggs that will not show for days after they enter the home.
