Survey the roof and the facade

We walk the roof, the projections, the condenser platforms and the shafts, separate the nesting positions from the perching ones, and measure and photograph every ledge.

Strip the nests and treat the parasites

Droppings are wetted before they are lifted so nothing goes airborne dry, bagged closed, and the nest position is treated for ticks and mites before the surface is sanitised.

Close and fit

Netting tensioned on a perimeter wire with no gap at the corners, spikes or wire on the narrow projections, metal mesh across vents and shafts, and the roof drains freed of the nest material packing them.

The follow-up visit

We come back to check the tension, the corners and any position the flock has moved to, and correct what has slackened before a bird finds it.

The Al Sharafiyah sub municipality runs across central Jeddah from Al Ruwais near the Corniche eastwards through Al Sharafiyah, Al Wurud and Bani Malik to Al Naseem at the Haramain Road. It was among the first areas to grow beyond the old wall, and it is dominated by dense apartment blocks over shops along King Fahd Road and Palestine Street, with old popular quarters, the Bani Malik market, car workshops and storerooms. Ageing buildings, worn drainage and the refuse of restaurants and markets make cockroaches and rodents the most persistent pests, and humidity rises towards the sea.

Questions about this district

The commercial street has many restaurants and waste is exposed all day, does this increase pigeons?

Significantly. Restaurants provide steady food for pigeons, and exposed waste attracts them further. Treatment requires restaurants to close bins and maintain continuous cleaning.

The Imam Al Shafi'i Mosque is very close to my flat, does it attract more pigeons?

Yes. Mosques draw large congregations and visitors throw bread to pigeons. The mosque itself cannot be treated, so we focus on protecting your own roof.

My flat is directly above a shop, should treatment include both levels?

Yes. The shop and the flat above need sequential treatment. We start with the roof, then the facade, then the gaps between floors.

After treatment will pigeons come back from nearby areas like Bani Malik?

They may try from Bani Malik or Al Wurud. But if they find your building well defended, they will look for easier targets. Good treatment stops them returning.
