Cockroach control in Al Ammariyah Jeddah
Al Ammariyah is an old district in the heart of Jeddah, wrapped around the open ground of the Eve's Tomb cemetery between Bab Makkah, Al Kandara and the Makkah Road. Its buildings are dense and ageing, its ground floors hold shops beneath the flats, and its drainage risers run from one home into the next. That is why the American cockroach here climbs from the drains rather than breeding in your kitchen alone.
-
Targeted, not broadcast
Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.
-
Told before we start
What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.
-
A follow-up visit
We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.
-
Homes and businesses
Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.
Why they keep coming back in Al Ammariyah
In these tight central blocks near Bab Makkah, the calls gather on ground-floor flats above shops, where the large cockroach rises through a shared drain late at night rather than breeding in the kitchen itself. The method is set out in full on Cockroach control in detail.
Old pipework the neighbours share
The buildings of Al Ammariyah are ageing, and their vertical drainage risers pass from one flat into the next. Treat your kitchen alone and the source stays alive in the shared stack. We seal the floor drains and treat the riser that links the floors, not your flat on its own.
Food shops beneath the flats
Near Bab Makkah the restaurants and bakeries sit on the ground floor beneath the homes. Their stored cartons, warmth and food downstairs feed the German cockroach that then climbs into the flats through pipes and cavities. We treat the source at ground level, not the sign of it above.
Open ground in the middle of the district
The open cemetery ground amid these packed blocks leaves damp, shaded soil along the edge of the housing, an outdoor harbourage the American cockroach crosses into the nearest flats. We treat the entry points at thresholds and drains, not the kitchen alone.
The species and the place decide the method
The district rings the open, shaded ground of the cemetery and sits on the aged drainage of central Jeddah near Bab Makkah. Damp soil and corroded old pipes give the American cockroach an outdoor reservoir it enters from after dark.
German cockroach
The German cockroach is small and lives in the kitchen. In Al Ammariyah it usually arrives with the cartons and goods of the ground-floor shops, then rides them up into the flats above.
American cockroach
The American cockroach is large and comes from the drains and the open cemetery ground, entering these old flats through floor drains and the shared pipework between neighbours.
Appliance heat
In Al Ammariyah's old flats the cockroach shelters behind the fridge motor and the water heater, where steady warmth keeps it active right through the year.
The gap behind the fridge
The kitchens are narrow and the fridge sits tight to the wall beside the pipe stack; the warm gap behind it is the quietest place for the eggs.
Water before food
A dripping old tap or a corroded pipe is enough before any food; in Al Ammariyah's ageing buildings we close the damp sources first.
What you see at night
One cockroach on the wall at night in these adjoining buildings means a colony in the shared drain, not a stray that wandered in from outside.
How we work
-
1
Inspect and identify
We work through the kitchen, the bathrooms and the drain runs, and establish the species, the harbourage points and the moisture keeping them there.
-
2
Treat the harbourage
Gel bait into joints and cracks, targeted spray where it is warranted, and dust in the dry voids behind appliances.
-
3
Close what can be closed
We point out the gaps, the drain entries and anything needing a plumber, because exclusion does more to stop a return than repeating the spray.
-
4
The follow-up visit
We come back once the surviving egg cases have hatched, check the points and re-treat where needed.
What cockroach control includes
-
A recorded inspection
Species, harbourage points and moisture sources, established before anything is applied.
-
Placed gel bait
In cabinet joints, cracks and behind appliances, where the insect actually travels.
-
Targeted spray where needed
On runways and junctions, never on preparation surfaces or open floors.
-
Drain and entry treatment
Floor traps, shafts and pipe entries, which is where the larger species comes from.
-
Aftercare instructions
Ventilation, what to cover, and when surfaces can be cleaned without undoing the work.
-
A scheduled follow-up
A set date after the first treatment, and re-treatment of anything still active.
Questions about this district
There is a restaurant on my ground floor. Does that matter?
Yes. The food, warmth and cartons in the shop below are a constant source feeding the flats above it. We treat the climbing points in the pipes and the cavities between the two floors, and we advise treating the premises itself so the source does not simply return.
My neighbour and I share the same drain stack. Is treating my flat enough?
The vertical stack links the flats together, so if your neighbour goes untreated the source stays alive. We seal the drains on your side and treat the shared riser, and it is better still to coordinate the treatment with the neighbours on the same stack.
My building is old and the walls are cracked. Does that make control harder?
Cracks in old plaster are harbourage that shields the eggs from a surface spray. That is why we treat inside the cracks and joints with targeted bait rather than the wall from outside, and return to close off whatever eggs survived once they hatch.
The big ones come out of the floor drain. Where are they from?
The large American cockroach lives in the drains and the damp ground of the district and climbs up at night from the floor drain. Treating the kitchen alone will not stop it; we treat the drainage run and seal the openings it enters through.
Does the open ground in the middle of the district bring them in?
The open, shaded and damp ground near the housing is an outdoor harbourage for the American cockroach, which crosses from it into the nearest flats at thresholds and drains. We focus the treatment on those entry edges, not on the inside of the kitchen alone.
My flat is on the ground floor facing the street. Am I more exposed?
The ground floor is closest to the drains, the floor openings and the busy street near Bab Makkah, so it is the first thing the climbing cockroach reaches. We treat the thresholds and pipe entries and close the outside routes in first.
How much does cockroach control in Al Ammariyah cost?
It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Al Ammariyah.
