Flea control in Al Faisaliyah Jeddah

Al Faisaliyah is an old central district of northern Jeddah where apartment blocks stand shoulder to shoulder with villas between them, and Sari Street runs thick with restaurants and banks. Fleas here travel between flats through shared pipes and foundation gaps, and return daily from the restaurants below.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in Al Faisaliyah

The restaurants on Sari Street produce daily food waste that draws fleas and rodents, and the residential blocks above and beside them are fed by those same fleas every night when the kitchens cool. The method is set out in full on how we approach Flea control.

The first reason

Old pipes and foundation gaps turn apartments into connected rooms

The blocks have not had the foundations treated since they were built decades ago. The pipes are cracked and gaps run deep and wide under the flats. Fleas move from flat 101 to 102 through these underground passages without being seen, and return to you even if you avoid every visibly infested unit.

The second reason

Sari Street restaurants sit directly under the residential flats

Ground floor bakeries and restaurants are lined with meat scraps, grease and bread waste, standing water under sinks and grills. Fleas in these kitchens climb at night into the flats directly above, separated only by a thin concrete slab and the gaps between it.

The third reason

High footfall from the hospital and university brings fleas in daily

Bugshan Hospital and the University of Jeddah campus draw new faces daily from across the city. Delivery staff, office workers and visitors climb the stairs. Any one of them may carry fleas from their home or from the bus stop into your flat.

The resting places map the infestation

Al Faisaliyah is decades old with ageing water and sewer networks, tightly packed apartment buildings served by shared vertical shafts, and commercial streets lined with food outlets and shops.

A close view of dense carpet pile

The base of the carpet

Carpet in old flats sits on a concrete base with high moisture, and fleas concentrate at the carpet base where shadow and damp meet.

Where the animal sleeps

The family pet sleeps on damp carpet or on a sofa near the window, and fleas lay eggs around its resting place.

Flea dirt

Flea dirt shows on the carpet and sofa and along the skirting of walls that face outward toward the damp foundation.

The underside edge of a fabric sofa

Furniture edges and upholstery

Sofa edges and upholstered pieces that touch the outer walls trap many fleas because moisture is trapped there.

Gaps between wooden floor boards

Joints in a hard floor

Tile and ceramic joints hold fleas because the damp base transmits moisture through them.

Damp shaded soil beneath shrubs

Damp shade outdoors

Damp shade outside the flat on walls and corners where pipes run collects fleas travelling between units.

How we work

  1. 1

    Inspect and confirm

We confirm it is fleas rather than another biting insect, and fix the animal's sleeping points, its routes and the shaded ground outside. Where there is no animal in the house, we look for the host they came from.

  2. 2

Treat the floors and soft furnishings

A residual with an insect growth regulator, worked into the carpet base, the floor and wall junction and the edges under furniture. The regulator stops a larva becoming an adult, which is what breaks the cycle.

  3. 3

The host and the shade outside

We treat the shaded ground and the outdoor lying spots, and we agree with you that the animal's veterinary treatment happens on the same day, because any host left out of the job re-seeds the floor.

  4. 4

    Vacuuming, then the follow-up visit

Repeated vacuuming vibrates the floor and draws the pupae out onto a treated surface. We come back about two weeks later to take the emerged generation before it lays.

What flea control includes

  • A technician inspecting with a flashlight

    Confirmation before anything is applied

Telling a flea bite from the alternatives, and fixing the resting places and the centre of the infestation.

  • A spray nozzle in close detail

Carpet base and floor line treatment

A residual and a growth regulator worked down into the pile and under furniture edges, not laid across the visible surface.

  • A metal floor drain

    Shade and damp outdoors

The shaded patches by entrances and around drains and taps, the only ground outside where larvae survive.

  • A gloved hand applying bait into a joint

The source when there is no pet

Stray cats sheltering under an outside stair, or rodents in the voids, each handled on a different footing.

  • A clean kitchen counter after treatment

    The vacuum schedule and aftercare

When to vacuum, how to empty the machine, and why the carpet is not steam cleaned afterwards. Ventilation time we give you on the call, because it changes with the product and the space.

  • The visit report being written on a clipboard

    A follow-up timed to emergence

A date about two weeks on, timed to the pupae leaving the cocoons, and re-treatment of any room where fresh bites are still starting.

What is different about Airport Sub-Municipality

The Airport sub-municipality covers some of the oldest established districts of northern Jeddah, gathered around King Abdulaziz International Airport between Madinah Road, King Fahd Road and Prince Majid Road. The stock is villas, single family houses and apartment blocks built decades ago, many served by ageing water and sewer lines. Commercial streets such as Quraish, Sari and Sultan bin Salman are lined with restaurants, furnished flats and popular markets. Dense commercial kitchens, worn pipework and the gaps in older buildings give cockroaches and rodents steady food and shelter, and the high resident population keeps that pressure constant through the year.

Questions about this district

My flat is on the fifth floor. Do fleas from flat one reach me through the pipes?

Yes, they do. Water and sewer lines run inside the walls and connect horizontally between units. Fleas climb these passages vertically with ease, especially if the flats below you are infested.

Is treating only my flat enough if I do not treat the neighbouring flats and the restaurant below?

No, it is not. Fleas will return from the neighbours and the restaurant within two weeks. Real control here needs at least coordination with your immediate neighbours and the shop below you.

Could fleas from the hospital next door reach me across the street or through the staff?

Both are possible. Fleas may spread via clothes and bags from hospital staff and patients coming and going daily. Also, the shared walls between the hospital and your block may carry fleas from one basement to the next.

The old flat next to mine is infested and has not been treated. Does that mean I will stay infested?

Most likely, unless you interrupt the travel route between you. Coordinating treatment with them is the only answer. If they refuse, your flat will need monthly treatment to hold them back, which costs far more in the long run.

The restaurant below closes at ten at night. Do fleas decrease then?

No, they increase. Night is when fleas are most active and mobile. When the restaurant closes and work stops, hungry fleas climb at night in search of the warm animal in the flat above. Night is when bites are worst.

How often per year does an old district like Al Faisaliyah need preventive treatment?

If you treat alone without coordinating with neighbours, restaurants and shops, you need monthly treatment to keep control. If you coordinate with adjoining units and the food outlets, preventive treatment every four months is enough.

How much does flea control in Al Faisaliyah cost?

It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Al Faisaliyah.
