We confirm it is fleas rather than another biting insect, and fix the animal's sleeping points, its routes and the shaded ground outside. Where there is no animal in the house, we look for the host they came from.

Treat the floors and soft furnishings

A residual with an insect growth regulator, worked into the carpet base, the floor and wall junction and the edges under furniture. The regulator stops a larva becoming an adult, which is what breaks the cycle.

The host and the shade outside

We treat the shaded ground and the outdoor lying spots, and we agree with you that the animal's veterinary treatment happens on the same day, because any host left out of the job re-seeds the floor.

Vacuuming, then the follow-up visit

Repeated vacuuming vibrates the floor and draws the pupae out onto a treated surface. We come back about two weeks later to take the emerged generation before it lays.

Questions about this district

My flat is on the fifth floor. Do fleas from flat one reach me through the pipes?

Yes, they do. Water and sewer lines run inside the walls and connect horizontally between units. Fleas climb these passages vertically with ease, especially if the flats below you are infested.

Is treating only my flat enough if I do not treat the neighbouring flats and the restaurant below?

No, it is not. Fleas will return from the neighbours and the restaurant within two weeks. Real control here needs at least coordination with your immediate neighbours and the shop below you.

Could fleas from the hospital next door reach me across the street or through the staff?

Both are possible. Fleas may spread via clothes and bags from hospital staff and patients coming and going daily. Also, the shared walls between the hospital and your block may carry fleas from one basement to the next.

The old flat next to mine is infested and has not been treated. Does that mean I will stay infested?

Most likely, unless you interrupt the travel route between you. Coordinating treatment with them is the only answer. If they refuse, your flat will need monthly treatment to hold them back, which costs far more in the long run.

The restaurant below closes at ten at night. Do fleas decrease then?

No, they increase. Night is when fleas are most active and mobile. When the restaurant closes and work stops, hungry fleas climb at night in search of the warm animal in the flat above. Night is when bites are worst.

How often per year does an old district like Al Faisaliyah need preventive treatment?

If you treat alone without coordinating with neighbours, restaurants and shops, you need monthly treatment to keep control. If you coordinate with adjoining units and the food outlets, preventive treatment every four months is enough.
