Flea control in Al Shira Jeddah
Al Shira is a recently developed northern district near the corniche that holds King Abdullah Medical Complex, with modern apartment buildings and villas along Prince Abdulmajeed Road and Prince Nayef Street. Fleas enter from ground floor shops and the nearby hospital, and treatment requires coordination with neighbouring shops.
-
Targeted, not broadcast
Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.
-
Told before we start
What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.
-
A follow-up visit
We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.
-
Homes and businesses
Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.
Why they keep coming back in Al Shira
Flats and villas are modern but ground shops are older and may carry fleas. Fleas climb from shops into the flats above. The method is set out in full on the full Flea control page.
Ground floor shops with direct connection
Flats sit directly above shops. Shops may carry fleas from goods and animals. Fleas climb through pipes and floor joints into flats.
King Abdullah Medical Complex and continuous traffic
The large hospital beside the district carries animals and possible fleas. Continuous visitor traffic may bring fleas to the area.
Corniche proximity and stray animals
The corniche holds stray animals and rodents. Fleas enter from strays that pass from the corniche into the district.
Al Shira on the map
Al Shira sits about 2.5 km from Al Yaqut and about 2.5 km from North Obhur.
Open in Google MapsThe resting places map the infestation
The recently developed district sits near the northern corniche with shops below homes and a large medical complex. Traffic is continuous and fleas may enter from shops and visiting animals.
The base of the carpet
Carpet base in a flat above a shop may stay damp from pipes. Fleas colonise damp fibres.
Where the animal sleeps
A pet or visits from the corniche bring fleas. Its sleeping place becomes the infestation centre.
Flea dirt
Flea dirt appears where dust and moisture collect between floors.
Furniture edges and upholstery
Furniture edges near open gardens may carry fleas from stray animals.
Joints in a hard floor
Flooring joints in the modern villa may lie near the garden. Fleas from outside may enter through them.
Damp shade outdoors
Damp shade outside beside the garden and the nearby corniche attracts fleas.
How we work
-
1
Inspect and confirm
We confirm it is fleas rather than another biting insect, and fix the animal's sleeping points, its routes and the shaded ground outside. Where there is no animal in the house, we look for the host they came from.
-
2
Treat the floors and soft furnishings
A residual with an insect growth regulator, worked into the carpet base, the floor and wall junction and the edges under furniture. The regulator stops a larva becoming an adult, which is what breaks the cycle.
-
3
The host and the shade outside
We treat the shaded ground and the outdoor lying spots, and we agree with you that the animal's veterinary treatment happens on the same day, because any host left out of the job re-seeds the floor.
-
4
Vacuuming, then the follow-up visit
Repeated vacuuming vibrates the floor and draws the pupae out onto a treated surface. We come back about two weeks later to take the emerged generation before it lays.
What flea control includes
-
Confirmation before anything is applied
Telling a flea bite from the alternatives, and fixing the resting places and the centre of the infestation.
-
Carpet base and floor line treatment
A residual and a growth regulator worked down into the pile and under furniture edges, not laid across the visible surface.
-
Shade and damp outdoors
The shaded patches by entrances and around drains and taps, the only ground outside where larvae survive.
-
The source when there is no pet
Stray cats sheltering under an outside stair, or rodents in the voids, each handled on a different footing.
-
The vacuum schedule and aftercare
When to vacuum, how to empty the machine, and why the carpet is not steam cleaned afterwards. Ventilation time we give you on the call, because it changes with the product and the space.
-
A follow-up timed to emergence
A date about two weeks on, timed to the pupae leaving the cocoons, and re-treatment of any room where fresh bites are still starting.
The character of Al Shira
Mixed district: shops at street level with homes above them
Mixed districts have ground shops as potential flea sources. Proximity to the corniche brings stray animals and fleas. Treatment requires coordination with neighbouring shops and caution regarding strays from the corniche.
Questions about this district
The shop below us may carry fleas. Do they reach us through shared pipes?
Yes. Ground shops are a flea source. Shared pipes allow fleas to climb into the flat easily.
The hospital complex nearby has fleas. Do they spread to us from there?
Hospitals may carry fleas from animals and patients. The distance between you and the hospital may reduce the risk.
The district is near the corniche and stray animals enter the house from the door directly. Are they the source?
Yes. Strays on the corniche enter nearby homes easily, especially ground floor flats and villas with open gardens.
My villa is close to neighbours. Do fleas spread between villas easily?
Yes. Villas close together in the modern district may share fleas through weak fences and open gardens.
One month after treatment, fleas returned. Did the shop go untreated?
The shop may be untreated, or fleas may have re-entered from another shop or a stray from the corniche.
Does salt and sea moisture worsen fleas or reduce them?
Salt and very high sea moisture may affect flea cycles. High moisture increases flea activity and salt may reduce some species.
How much does flea control in Al Shira cost?
It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Al Shira.
