My flat is above a restaurant. Does this increase snake risk?

Very much so. Restaurants draw rats and snakes follow them. If gaps between you and the restaurant are open a snake can enter easily. Drain hatches, pipes and even small cracks are enough.

The waste bin under the building sits open all night. Does this draw snakes?

An open bin draws rats, which in turn draw snakes. A snake may not enter through the bin itself, but it enters through foundation gaps that rats also use.

The restaurant says they never see snakes. Why did one enter my flat above?

A snake may enter the restaurant at night and climb internal stairs or pass through a shared drain line. What they do not know at night you will not know in the flat.

Hira Market is very close to my flat. Is this dangerous?

The market attracts rodents and snakes, but they do not enter the flat directly from the market. Our focus is on sealing the gaps and openings in the flat itself.

The kitchen drain is old and makes a strange sound. Could it be a snake?

Strange sounds may mean air bubbles or a rat, but if you hear movement in the drain at night it could be a snake. Clean the drain and check that the seal cover is tight.

I am a short term tenant. Is the building owner responsible?

The owner is responsible for foundation and shared channel maintenance, but you are responsible for sealing gaps in your flat. We focus on what you can do in your own space.
