Termite control in Al Wahah Jeddah
Al Wahah is a relatively recently established villa district east of the Haramain Road and north of Palestine Road, laid out to a regular plan and dominated by villas, the ground is normally dry and away from the sea, but it is ringed by half built subdivisions and open excavations that stir rodents and termites from vacant land, and the old nearby districts have aged drainage and vacant plots ideal for insect gathering.
-
Targeted, not broadcast
Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.
-
Told before we start
What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.
-
A follow-up visit
We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.
-
Homes and businesses
Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.
Why they keep coming back in Al Wahah
Open excavations on the edges of Al Wahah stir termites out of nearby vacant land, so infestation may come from the edges rather than from within. The method is set out in full on the full Termite control page.
Surrounding vacant land and open excavations
Al Wahah is ringed by subdivisions under construction and open excavations from nearly every side. These excavations displace termites and rodents from vacant plots, and new villas are the natural target. Early treatment before moving in is essential.
Old neighbouring districts and aged drainage
Al Harazat, Al Mahamid and the old parts of Umm Al Salam border Al Wahah from the south and east. These old districts have very aged drainage and vacant plots. Termites and rodents in these areas may spread to new Al Wahah through the soil.
New villas and exposed fresh foundations and dry ground
Villas in Al Wahah are new and foundations have not yet settled. Ground is normally dry, but when water arrives from tanks and drainage, foundations become a target. Early treatment of soil is essential before foundations settle.
The character of Al Wahah
Villa district: private plots, gardens and a boundary wall to every house
A recently developed villa district on dry ground but surrounded by excavations means rising threat from insects from the edges. Early treatment before moving in is essential, and yearly monitoring protects against spread from the old neighbouring districts.
The evidence that decides the treatment
A newly developed villa district in east Jeddah with dry ground away from the sea, but surrounded by subdivisions under construction and open excavations and vacant plots.
Mud tubes
Mud tubes may not show easily in dry soil, but moisture from new tanks and drainage will activate them.
Shed wings
Shed wings may not appear in new villas until after a damp season or rainfall.
Hollow timber
Hollow timber may start in fences, beams and garden furniture before it appears in the house itself.
The water source
The water source may come from new tanks and drainage and nearby groundwater, not the sea.
Cellulose on the floor
Cellulose on the floor includes fences, beams, garden furniture and temporary building props.
Joints and pipe entries
Joints and pipe entries must be treated with strong barrier before they are covered with soil and slabs.
How we work
-
1
Inspect and trace
We sound the timber and the skirting, take moisture readings, and follow the tubes to the point where they leave the soil. We also settle the species, because one that lives inside dry wood is not treated like one that lives in the ground.
-
2
Treat the soil around the building
A narrow trench at the footing and injection at regular spacing, so the treated band runs continuous with no gap to walk around.
-
3
Drill the joints, inject the timber
Small holes at spacing along the slab joints, the wall bases and the pipe entries, direct injection into the galleries inside the affected timber, then the holes are closed and made good.
-
4
Bait stations and monitoring
Stations in the soil carrying a slow-acting material the workers pass through the colony by mouth-to-mouth feeding, and we come back to read them, because an empty tube on a wall proves nothing on its own.
What termite control includes
-
A traced, recorded inspection
Sounding, moisture readings, tubes traced back to the soil, and the species settled before anything is applied.
-
A treated band at the perimeter
Trenching and injection at the footing, spaced so the band is continuous rather than a set of patches.
-
Joints and service penetrations
Slab joints, pipe entries and floor drains, which are the ways up through the concrete.
-
Bait stations in the soil
A slow material carried back through the colony by feeding exchange, rather than stopping the workers at the wall.
-
Aftercare instructions
What not to dig or water near the treated band, what to keep off the walls, and the ventilation time we set for your case.
-
Scheduled monitoring visits
Reading the stations, sounding the same timber again, and treating any new activity.
What is different about Umm Al Salam Sub-Municipality
The Umm Al Salam sub municipality covers the east and south east of Jeddah along the Old Makkah Road and the Haramain Road. It pairs recently planned districts such as Al Wahah, Al Nakhil and Al Shuruq with popular districts that grew outside formal planning, including Al Harazat, Al Mahamid and Umm Al Salam. The older areas have ageing drainage, unpaved streets and vacant plots where building waste collects, conditions that suit rodents, cockroaches and ants. The newer areas are ringed by half built subdivisions and open excavations.
Questions about this district
Al Wahah ground is dry: do we need termite treatment right away?
Yes, very strongly. Dry ground may offer temporary protection, but excavations round the edges displace termites from vacant land. Early treatment before moving in is essential.
Old districts round us have termites: do they spread through dry soil?
Termites prefer damp soil, but when water arrives from tanks and drainage they spread easily. Distance offers some protection, but early treatment is recommended.
Dry ground means termites will never come to our villa?
Not at all. Dry ground may offer initial protection, but tanks and drainage will bring moisture. Rodents and other insects may also carry termites.
Is early treatment before moving into a new villa better than treatment after infestation?
Much better. Early treatment is cheaper and more effective. New villas with new water systems offer ideal termite conditions.
How long does protection from early treatment before moving in last?
Good treatment gives long term protection if maintenance is kept up. Yearly monitoring is recommended to ensure protection continues.
We built on land that was an old residential scheme: is the risk higher?
It may be. Old land may have termite traces. Soil testing matters, and strong early treatment is recommended.
How much does termite control in Al Wahah cost?
It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Al Wahah.
