Termite control in An Nawwariyah Makkah

An Nawwariyah is a mixed district in the north west of Makkah with villas, apartment blocks and wide open land, bounded to the north by the Madinah road, the city's entrance from the north. Wadi An Nawwariyah runs through it in low ground. Many plots remain vacant and unbuilt, and blocks have shops on the ground floor with homes above. This mix of use and open land makes treatment complex.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in An Nawwariyah

The many vacant plots in An Nawwariyah provide ideal termite habitat because the soil is exposed and moisture runs deep, and nearby built houses are exposed from all sides. The method is set out in full on the full Termite control page.

The first reason

Wide vacant land surrounding built villas and apartment blocks

Many empty plots in An Nawwariyah remain undeveloped, and villas and blocks stand among them. Termites establish large colonies in this open ground and spread into the buildings round them. Treating the slab and footing alone is incomplete. The surrounding vacant land must also be treated.

The second reason

Ground floor shops with complex upper storey dividers

Blocks have shops at street level and homes above them, and the dividing line is complex. Termites enter through the shop floor and cross the partition to the homes above. Treating the shop and the upper storey together is essential.

The third reason

Wadi An Nawwariyah and water pooling in low ground

Wadi An Nawwariyah collects water and leaves moisture in low areas, and rain seeps easily through sandy soil but gathers in depressions. This deep constant moisture feeds large termite colonies.

The character of An Nawwariyah

Mixed district: shops at street level with homes above them

In a mixed district of villas, blocks and shared vacant land, termites establish large colonies in open ground and reach every form of housing.

Before treatment

The evidence that decides the treatment

The district is built on sandy soil with depressions where the wadi collects water, and wide vacant land has no organised drainage and moisture gathers.

Narrow mud tubes running up a concrete wall

Mud tubes

Mud tubes begin in large colonies in vacant land and low points and climb toward nearby villas and blocks.

Discarded transparent wings on a window ledge

Shed wings

Shed wings appear heavily in spring and autumn especially in residential blocks near vacant land.

A damaged timber frame showing internal galleries

Hollow timber

Timber in footings, support posts and fixtures is eaten fast because moisture is high from the wadi and rain.

A dark damp patch below a pipe at a wall base

The water source

The moisture source is Wadi An Nawwariyah, shallow groundwater and rainwater pooling in low and bare ground.

Cardboard boxes and timber stacked on a store floor

Cellulose on the floor

Cellulose touching the ground in villa and block footings faces constant attack from large termite colonies in open land.

A concrete joint and a pipe passing through a floor slab

Joints and pipe entries

Joints and pipe entries between shops and homes and between neighbouring villas need full treatment to cut termite routes from vacant land.

How we work

  1. 1

    Inspect and trace

We sound the timber and the skirting, take moisture readings, and follow the tubes to the point where they leave the soil. We also settle the species, because one that lives inside dry wood is not treated like one that lives in the ground.

  2. 2

Treat the soil around the building

A narrow trench at the footing and injection at regular spacing, so the treated band runs continuous with no gap to walk around.

  3. 3

Drill the joints, inject the timber

Small holes at spacing along the slab joints, the wall bases and the pipe entries, direct injection into the galleries inside the affected timber, then the holes are closed and made good.

  4. 4

    Bait stations and monitoring

Stations in the soil carrying a slow-acting material the workers pass through the colony by mouth-to-mouth feeding, and we come back to read them, because an empty tube on a wall proves nothing on its own.

What termite control includes

  • A technician inspecting with a flashlight

    A traced, recorded inspection

Sounding, moisture readings, tubes traced back to the soil, and the species settled before anything is applied.

  • A spray nozzle in close detail

A treated band at the perimeter

Trenching and injection at the footing, spaced so the band is continuous rather than a set of patches.

  • A metal floor drain

    Joints and service penetrations

Slab joints, pipe entries and floor drains, which are the ways up through the concrete.

  • A gloved hand applying bait into a joint

    Bait stations in the soil

A slow material carried back through the colony by feeding exchange, rather than stopping the workers at the wall.

  • A clean kitchen counter after treatment

    Aftercare instructions

What not to dig or water near the treated band, what to keep off the walls, and the ventilation time we set for your case.

  • The visit report being written on a clipboard

    Scheduled monitoring visits

Reading the stations, sounding the same timber again, and treating any new activity.

What is different about Al Umrah Sub-Municipality

Al Umrah sub municipality covers the north west of Makkah along the Madinah road and the old Jeddah road, from At Tanim and Masjid Aisha to An Nawwariyah. Its districts are the city's newest, villas and apartment blocks raised on wide schemes where large tracts in Al Umrah Al Jadidah, Al Fayha and Al Buhayrat remain vacant or under construction. Wadi Saraf and Wadi At Tanim run through it and rainwater gathers on unfinished schemes, ihram shops, restaurants and coach stops along the Madinah road serve a constant flow of pilgrims, and villas fill Al Hamra and Umm Al Jud.

Questions about this district

Do vacant plots in An Nawwariyah spread termites to neighbouring villas?

Yes. Open land provides ideal habitat for large colonies. Termites spread from vacant plots to nearby villas and blocks with ease.

Does an untreated ground floor shop reach the homes above it?

Yes. The divider between shop and upper home may be weak and termites breach it. Treating the shop alone stops them briefly but they enter from the side.

Does the wadi water table rise after rain?

Yes. The wadi collects water and sandy soil drains slowly. Groundwater may stay high for weeks after rain.

Are concrete floors in the commercial shops in An Nawwariyah more at risk than residential?

Yes. Shops see more water flow and floors may be older. Termites enter easily through damp shop concrete.

Does a new house on vacant ground in An Nawwariyah need treatment before construction?

Yes. Treating the soil before the footing cuts the termite route from nearby colonies. This is better than treating after building finishes.

Does complete An Nawwariyah treatment stop termites entering from outside the district?

Treating buildings and surrounding land stops entry from the immediate area, but vast vacant plots may need cyclic retreatment because colonies may restart.

How much does termite control in An Nawwariyah cost?

It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach An Nawwariyah.
