Inspect and trace

We sound the timber and the skirting, take moisture readings, and follow the tubes to the point where they leave the soil. We also settle the species, because one that lives inside dry wood is not treated like one that lives in the ground.

Treat the soil around the building

A narrow trench at the footing and injection at regular spacing, so the treated band runs continuous with no gap to walk around.

Drill the joints, inject the timber

Small holes at spacing along the slab joints, the wall bases and the pipe entries, direct injection into the galleries inside the affected timber, then the holes are closed and made good.

Bait stations and monitoring

Stations in the soil carrying a slow-acting material the workers pass through the colony by mouth-to-mouth feeding, and we come back to read them, because an empty tube on a wall proves nothing on its own.

What is different about Al Umrah Sub-Municipality

Al Umrah sub municipality covers the north west of Makkah along the Madinah road and the old Jeddah road, from At Tanim and Masjid Aisha to An Nawwariyah. Its districts are the city's newest, villas and apartment blocks raised on wide schemes where large tracts in Al Umrah Al Jadidah, Al Fayha and Al Buhayrat remain vacant or under construction. Questions about this district

Is the termite problem in our shop or in the shops next to us?

Usually it is shared. Commercial buildings in At Tanim are connected through foundations and drainage, so termites travel easily. We trace the tubes to identify the source, but treatment usually covers the whole building.

Does moisture from water tank leaks speed up treatment or slow it down?

It speeds up colony activity significantly. Leaking tanks raise moisture round the foundations, and treatment must first fix the leak, then dry the area before or during chemical treatment.

We change our shop every two years: do we need new treatment each time?

Not always. If the earlier treatment was successful and the soil was treated properly, protection may continue. But we inspect foundations and drainage after the changeover, because repairs may open new routes.

Pilgrims carry bags with wooden frames: do they bring termites with them?

Termites do not travel far easily. Wooden bags may arrive infested, but the real problem is moisture and poor drainage in the shop itself.

Our drainage is very old: is treatment alone enough?

Treatment stops the active colony, but old drainage will bring moisture back. Lasting repair means upgrading the ground drainage or at least sealing the biggest gaps.

How often do we check the bait stations after treatment in At Tanim?

In At Tanim we check weekly for the first three weeks, then fortnightly for a month, then monthly. High moisture means higher activity and bait travels fast.
