Termite control in Wadi Jaleel Makkah

Wadi Jaleel is a newly developed valley district among hills north east of Makkah along Al Hajj Street and the fourth ring road, with modern housing schemes on historic flood ground, a tributary of Wadi Liyyah. Strong flash floods and high groundwater trapped between the hills mean soil beneath the new homes is very wet, requiring deep excavation to reach the water table.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in Wadi Jaleel

New homes in the valley sit very close to Jabal Al Nour and the Hira cave and may be built on historically significant ground, with termites very active because of the very high soil moisture. The method is set out in full on what Termite control involves.

The first reason

Flood bed and trapped groundwater

The valley is an ancient flood course and strong floods sweep water down from the hills with great force. Water trapped between the hills raises the water table very high and soil beneath all homes is very wet all year round.

The second reason

New homes built on the flood plain

New homes are built on the historic flood plain, and modern footings may sit very close to the water table level. Treatment must reach to the depth of the water table and may need very deep excavation.

The third reason

Soft soil and severe floods

Valley floor soil is soft and easily water-logged, and severe floods scour soil around building footings with force. This creates a perfect termite environment and keeps the route constantly open.

Before treatment

The evidence that decides the treatment

The valley lies between high mountains as an ancient flood bed, with new homes built on the low ground of the wadi itself, and the water table is very high and floods are very strong in the rainy season.

Narrow mud tubes running up a concrete wall

Mud tubes

Mud tubes appear on external and internal walls and around footings, and may be very wet from the very high water table in the valley.

Discarded transparent wings on a window ledge

Shed wings

Shed wings appear almost all year because humidity is very high and the water table is elevated, becoming abundant in wet seasons after heavy rain.

A damaged timber frame showing internal galleries

Hollow timber

Hollow timber includes doors, windows, wooden ceilings and beams and floors, and new wood may rot quickly because of the very high moisture.

A dark damp patch below a pipe at a wall base

The water source

Moisture comes from very high groundwater and floods and rain entering soil around footings and staying trapped there.

Cardboard boxes and timber stacked on a store floor

Cellulose on the floor

Cellulose on the floor includes wooden foundations and wooden floors and beams and wooden ceilings and wooden furniture in new homes.

A concrete joint and a pipe passing through a floor slab

Joints and pipe entries

Joints and pipe entries include floor and wall joints and pipes penetrating footings and seepage from drain lines and pipes.

How we work

  1. 1

    Inspect and trace

We sound the timber and the skirting, take moisture readings, and follow the tubes to the point where they leave the soil. We also settle the species, because one that lives inside dry wood is not treated like one that lives in the ground.

  2. 2

Treat the soil around the building

A narrow trench at the footing and injection at regular spacing, so the treated band runs continuous with no gap to walk around.

  3. 3

Drill the joints, inject the timber

Small holes at spacing along the slab joints, the wall bases and the pipe entries, direct injection into the galleries inside the affected timber, then the holes are closed and made good.

  4. 4

    Bait stations and monitoring

Stations in the soil carrying a slow-acting material the workers pass through the colony by mouth-to-mouth feeding, and we come back to read them, because an empty tube on a wall proves nothing on its own.

What termite control includes

  • A technician inspecting with a flashlight

    A traced, recorded inspection

Sounding, moisture readings, tubes traced back to the soil, and the species settled before anything is applied.

  • A spray nozzle in close detail

A treated band at the perimeter

Trenching and injection at the footing, spaced so the band is continuous rather than a set of patches.

  • A metal floor drain

    Joints and service penetrations

Slab joints, pipe entries and floor drains, which are the ways up through the concrete.

  • A gloved hand applying bait into a joint

    Bait stations in the soil

A slow material carried back through the colony by feeding exchange, rather than stopping the workers at the wall.

  • A clean kitchen counter after treatment

    Aftercare instructions

What not to dig or water near the treated band, what to keep off the walls, and the ventilation time we set for your case.

  • The visit report being written on a clipboard

    Scheduled monitoring visits

Reading the stations, sounding the same timber again, and treating any new activity.

The character of Wadi Jaleel

New development: ongoing construction and vacant plots between the homes

New construction on ancient flood ground means new homes sit under very high moisture pressure and require deep treatment to reach the water table. Excavation may be very deep and treatment may take longer.

Questions about this district

Are new homes in Wadi Jaleel more exposed to termites than other districts?

Yes, greatly. The valley is a flood bed with very high groundwater and soil that is always wet. Homes built on a flood plain require very deep treatment.

Do strong floods during heavy rain increase the termite problem?

Yes. Floods scour soil around footings and raise the water table forcefully. After heavy rain water stays trapped around footings for weeks and keeps the termite route open.

Are homes very close to Jabal Al Nour more affected?

Jabal Al Nour rises above the valley and water flows down from it during rain. Homes very close to the mountain may need deeper treatment because of very high groundwater.

How deep must we excavate in Wadi Jaleel for treatment?

The water table is very high in the valley; we may need to dig a metre or deeper to reach it. Treatment is placed right at the water table level.

Does soft soil make it easier or harder to apply treatment?

Soft soil lets chemical treatment penetrate easily but termites may avoid it by going around. Treatment must be very thorough and very deep.

Is re treatment after initial application necessary in Wadi Jaleel?

Yes, monitoring is essential and homes need inspection every two months at least. High moisture and floods mean colonies may return constantly.

How much does termite control in Wadi Jaleel cost?

It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Wadi Jaleel.
