The first reason

A shop on the ground floor, a flat straight above it

Along King Faisal Road and Al Mahjar Street, the same building type repeats: a shop at street level with a flat stacked directly above it, so goods and workers move from the shop into the same internal stairwell the family uses to reach their front door. A check here has to start at that shared stairwell, not only in the bedroom.

From a quarantine station to a cluster of hospitals

King Abdulaziz Hospital now stands where the old quarantine station once was, alongside the Jeddah Mental Health Hospital and Ibn Sina College Hospital, so homes nearby take in companions, discharged patients and relatives arriving for appointments, often carrying a spare mattress or bedding with them. That incoming bedding needs its own check, separate from the beds the household already sleeps on.

The third reason

Petromin Souq's stock and the old quarter's furniture

To the west, the old Petromin quarter is named in clearance plans near the port and the refinery, and as families there move on, second hand furniture and bedding often pass to relatives in Al Mahjar. Stock from Petromin Souq itself adds a second route in, both worth checking before anything reaches a bedroom.

How we work

Inspect and map the spread

We strip the bed and work through the mattress and base seams, the frame joints, the headboard and the skirting, then check the upholstered furniture and the neighbouring rooms to see how far it has gone.

Laundry, heat and steam

Bedding is bagged and sealed inside the room, then washed and dried hot. Steam runs along the seams and edges, because heat reaches the cemented eggs that a liquid never will.

Targeted, non-repellent application

A non-repellent product goes onto the harbourage itself, with a dust into voids and screw holes. We do not use a repellent aerosol, because it drives the insect deeper into the wall and into the next room.

Monitoring and the follow-up visit

A sealed encasement goes onto the mattress and the base, with monitors under the bed legs, then we return once the remaining eggs have hatched and re-treat anything still active.

Dense residential districts sit beside new subdivisions such as Al Sanabil and Al Taawun, warehouse fringes such as Al Saruriyah and Al Sarawat, and an old seaside settlement at Al Quzayn. Open stormwater channels cross the housing, and the warehouses, the vegetable and livestock markets and the nearby Islamic Port and Industrial City give pests shelter, food and year round humidity. Pressure is greatest in the older quarters, where drainage networks are ageing.
