Why they keep coming back in Al Thaalibah

The first reason

Thin, shared walls in the old apartment stock

Al Thaalibah's older blocks share dividing walls and pipe runs that were never properly sealed, which gives the insect a path between one flat and the next that a newer, better insulated building does not provide.

Inspect and map the spread

We strip the bed and work through the mattress and base seams, the frame joints, the headboard and the skirting, then check the upholstered furniture and the neighbouring rooms to see how far it has gone.

Laundry, heat and steam

Bedding is bagged and sealed inside the room, then washed and dried hot. Steam runs along the seams and edges, because heat reaches the cemented eggs that a liquid never will.

Targeted, non-repellent application

A non-repellent product goes onto the harbourage itself, with a dust into voids and screw holes. We do not use a repellent aerosol, because it drives the insect deeper into the wall and into the next room.

Monitoring and the follow-up visit

A sealed encasement goes onto the mattress and the base, with monitors under the bed legs, then we return once the remaining eggs have hatched and re-treat anything still active.

Questions about this district

A neighbouring block was vacated for slum clearance and neighbours passed us some furniture, does it need checking?

Furniture that comes out of a building being cleared can carry bugs that have left their original hiding place looking for a new one, so anything that arrives that way is worth checking before it goes into a bedroom.

Tenants next door who work at the port change every few months with new bags, is that a risk?

Turnover near the port means a different set of bags and furniture passing through the building every few months, and what an inspection finds in one flat can differ completely from the flat next to it depending on who lived there last.

Old drainage and wiring runs connect our flats directly, can bed bugs travel through them?

The old openings cut around pipework and cabling give the insect a route between adjoining units, so we check the wall along that pipework rather than just the bed itself when a neighbour has reported an infestation.

Proximity between windows does not move the insect through the air, since it cannot fly or jump any distance, the real risk stays with whatever furniture or luggage actually enters the room, not with how close the buildings stand.
