Dhahban sub municipality is the northern coastal strip of Jeddah, running from the north bank of Sharm Obhur up to the old village of Dhahban and Salman Bay. Its districts are recently built, with owner occupied villas and apartments, beach resorts and chalets on the shore, and land subdivisions still being developed. Nearness to the sea keeps humidity high all year, irrigated lawns in villas, resorts and district parks hold water, Wadi Obhur and the vacant plots between buildings give rodents and reptiles shelter, and the old fishing village of Dhahban gives the far north a rural edge.

My elderly father moved in with his old bedroom furniture, does it need checking?

Yes. We check his bedroom pieces specifically before they go into the new villa in Taybah, because an old bed can carry bed bugs from a previous house even when it looks clean, and we treat its seams and joints separately from the rest of the home.

We take rugs and cushions to Wadi Obhur for evening sittings, is that risky?

The risk is small for one short evening, but with regular use it is worth checking the rugs and cushions before they go back into the bedrooms, because the wadi banks nearby shelter insects and rodents that move easily onto bedding left on the ground.
