Survey the roof and the facade

We walk the roof, the projections, the condenser platforms and the shafts, separate the nesting positions from the perching ones, and measure and photograph every ledge.

Strip the nests and treat the parasites

Droppings are wetted before they are lifted so nothing goes airborne dry, bagged closed, and the nest position is treated for ticks and mites before the surface is sanitised.

Close and fit

Netting tensioned on a perimeter wire with no gap at the corners, spikes or wire on the narrow projections, metal mesh across vents and shafts, and the roof drains freed of the nest material packing them.

The follow-up visit

We come back to check the tension, the corners and any position the flock has moved to, and correct what has slackened before a bird finds it.

The Umm Al Salam sub municipality covers the east and south east of Jeddah along the Old Makkah Road and the Haramain Road. It pairs recently planned districts such as Al Wahah, Al Nakhil and Al Shuruq with popular districts that grew outside formal planning, including Al Harazat, Al Mahamid and Umm Al Salam. The older areas have ageing drainage, unpaved streets and vacant plots where building waste collects, conditions that suit rodents, cockroaches and ants. The newer areas are ringed by half built subdivisions and open excavations.

Questions about this district

Al Nakhil Park is very close to the house. Do pigeons come from the park?

Yes, the park is the main source. Grass seeds and plants provide year round food. Pigeons spend the day in the park then fly to your rooftop to sleep. If you want a complete solution, we advise coordinating with the park management too.

The promenade draws many visitors. Does the work disturb them?

Roof work does not disturb the visitors. We fit the deterrent quietly and at times that cause no disturbance. Visitors usually notice nothing, and the benefit is that the promenade stays clean of pigeon droppings.

The shop and flat above it have different owners. How do costs split?

Costs are split among whoever owns the roof. If the roof is shared, we suggest a fair division. We always ask and clarify responsibility before work starts.

Does the deterrent affect the look of the park and promenade?

The deterrent on the roof is usually not visible from street level. The park and promenade are unaffected. The deterrent sits only on internal rooftops.

Pigeons land at ground level between the shops. Can they climb to the roof?

Yes, pigeons climb from ground level via external stairs, pipes and ledges. The roof deterrent stops them landing up there, but they may enter through other openings. We need a complete solution.

Will pigeons return after your work is done?

No, if the deterrent is fitted securely. Pigeons do not return to places with a strong deterrent. But if nearby roofs lack protection, they may settle there and come close to your home.
