I live in a block, can cockroaches come from a neighbour's flat?

They can. Flats in one block share drain stacks and cable runs, so when a single flat is sprayed the cockroaches simply move sideways to the next. My villa has a garden and inspection chambers; where do the big ones come from?

Usually the American cockroach, which lives in the inspection chambers and drains under the garden and comes up through the bathroom floor and gully traps looking for water. Treating a villa starts outside: the inspection chambers, the perimeter wall and the points where pipes enter, before anything indoors.

I moved in recently with second hand furniture; can that bring them?
