Cockroach control in Al Souq Al Saghir Al Jadid Makkah

Al Souq Al Saghir Al Jadid is a young extension off the Al Layth road, south of Makkah, where villas are still going up and open plots sit unbuilt between them. That reshapes the job. A cockroach here rarely comes through a shared wall from a neighbour's flat. It climbs a drain that was connected only weeks ago, or it arrives inside furniture carried into a house whose gaps are not yet sealed.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in Al Souq Al Saghir Al Jadid

In houses only recently moved into here, the first colony we find is usually inside a packing box left unopened, or behind a fridge pushed into place a day or two earlier. The method is set out in full on what Cockroach control involves.

The first reason

Villas still under construction

Building work is still under way in many of these homes. Drains are being connected and walls are drilled for pipework, then the openings are left open for a while. The American cockroach uses those unsealed routes to climb up from the drainage before the sealing is finished.

The second reason

Open ground on every side

Because the villas sit apart on land that has not been built up, they miss the shared sewers that feed dense old quarters. But every newly watered garden and every pool of standing building water becomes a source in its own right, right up against the house.

The third reason

A new house is not an empty one

Moving into a fresh villa brings kitchen boxes and appliances that may be second-hand. The German cockroach travels inside them as eggs you never see, so it can start in a spotless kitchen simply because it arrived with the belongings rather than from the place itself.

Before treatment

The species and the place decide the method

The villas stand among vacant plots and active building sites, and the new drainage has not yet built up the standing water in its traps. Cockroaches find their way up the pipes before the basins begin to hold them back.

A small light brown German cockroach

German cockroach

The German cockroach reaches these new villas by travelling inside removal boxes and second-hand appliances, then settles into the warmth of the kitchen before you notice it is there.

A larger dark cockroach on a wooden surface

American cockroach

The American cockroach climbs up from the fresh drainage in these villas through pipe openings that are not yet sealed, especially while building work is still going on nearby.

An oven and gas hob beneath wooden shelving

Appliance heat

New kitchen appliances give off warmth behind them, and in a villa only just moved into, cockroaches find that heat and shelter early, before the household has even settled in.

A kitchen with a fridge; the gap behind it is a classic nest

The gap behind the fridge

A fridge only recently pushed into position leaves a warm, dark gap behind it, and that is the first place we check in a home lived in for just a few days.

A tap carrying water droplets

Water before food

A cockroach looks for water before food, and a new build is full of it: damp cement and unused new bathrooms. We shut off the water sources before we chase the insect itself.

A dimly lit kitchen at night

What you see at night

A single cockroach seen at night in a new villa is not necessarily a stray from outside. It may be the first sign of a colony that came in with the move.

How we work

  1. 1

    Inspect and identify

We work through the kitchen, the bathrooms and the drain runs, and establish the species, the harbourage points and the moisture keeping them there.

  2. 2

    Treat the harbourage

Gel bait into joints and cracks, targeted spray where it is warranted, and dust in the dry voids behind appliances.

  3. 3

    Close what can be closed

We point out the gaps, the drain entries and anything needing a plumber, because exclusion does more to stop a return than repeating the spray.

  4. 4

    The follow-up visit

We come back once the surviving egg cases have hatched, check the points and re-treat where needed.

What cockroach control includes

  • A technician inspecting with a flashlight

    A recorded inspection

Species, harbourage points and moisture sources, established before anything is applied.

  • A gloved hand applying bait into a joint

    Placed gel bait

In cabinet joints, cracks and behind appliances, where the insect actually travels.

  • A spray nozzle in close detail

    Targeted spray where needed

On runways and junctions, never on preparation surfaces or open floors.

  • A metal floor drain

    Drain and entry treatment

Floor traps, shafts and pipe entries, which is where the larger species comes from.

  • A clean kitchen counter after treatment

    Aftercare instructions

Ventilation, what to cover, and when surfaces can be cleaned without undoing the work.

  • The visit report being written on a clipboard

    A scheduled follow-up

A set date after the first treatment, and re-treatment of anything still active.

Questions about this district

We bought a new villa, so why are there cockroaches already?

A new house is not safe from cockroaches. They have usually come in with removal boxes or a second-hand appliance, or climbed up from fresh drainage whose openings are not yet sealed. We find the source first and treat that, rather than just spraying the surface.

Can you treat before we move in, while the villa is unfinished?

Yes, and treating an empty house before you move in is often easier. We seal the exposed pipe openings and treat the drainage runs before the furniture goes in and the kitchen is switched on, so life in the house begins with the breeding sites already closed off.

The building work next door is still going on, does it affect us?

Active building sites around you expose drainage and leave standing water and rubble, all of which draw the American cockroach and push it towards the nearest occupied home. We take that into account and focus on the entry points facing those sites.

We brought in second-hand furniture and appliances, could they be the source?

Yes, and they are one of the most common sources of the German cockroach in new homes. Second-hand appliances, the fridge and microwave in particular, can carry eggs in their warmth. We check those appliances specifically and treat inside their cavities, not just around them.

Do the cockroaches come from the empty plots around us?

The bare land itself is not a favoured home for cockroaches, but whatever is dumped on it, water or building waste, collects moisture and draws the American cockroach. What matters more is what sits under your own house: the drainage and the newly watered garden.

We have just put in garden irrigation, is that connected?

Yes. New irrigation leaves permanent moisture against the villa's foundation, which is exactly what the American cockroach seeks. We review where the irrigation runs and how water drains around the house, and we close off its routes in from the garden.
