Round each villa under construction lie deep foundation pits, trenches for service pipes and compacted ground being watered for settlement. Every excavation holds and retains water. Mosquitoes breed in these small cavities in vast numbers.

The wadi runs through the heart of the district, collecting water from upstream. Even in the dry season the wadi bed stays damp. After rain the wadi becomes a massive water source that spreads into surrounding fields.

New development: ongoing construction and vacant plots between the homes

A new development means incomplete drainage and raw ground. Standing water is created continuously by rain, irrigation and construction work, not from a few fixed enclosed sources. The problem is seasonal but severe.

Inspect and map the water

We walk the perimeter, the roof, the garden, the meter chambers and the condensate runs, record everything that holds water, and read the species from the breeding site and the time of biting.

Remove the water that can go

Empty, invert, cover: saucers, containers, old tyres and roof gullies. Every point that disappears is a treatment that never needs repeating.

Larval treatment, then the resting surfaces

Water that cannot be drained is treated so the larva never completes, then a residual goes under planting, beneath outdoor furniture and along low shaded walls.

The follow-up visit

We come back once the generation that was in the water on the first visit has completed, review every point we recorded and re-treat where needed.

Questions about this district

Are the vacant plots alone the mosquito source or do building sites also breed them?

Both. Vacant ground provides the largest water pools after rain, and construction sites round each villa are surrounded by pits and trenches holding continuous water. Mosquitoes from open plots migrate into the villas.

Does rainfall cause a catastrophic mosquito explosion in this new district?

Yes, because drainage is incomplete and ground does not dry quickly. After every rain massive mosquito populations appear and persist for weeks. The district becomes uninhabitable without regular treatment.

Will finishing the networks and completing construction solve the mosquito problem?

Gradually, yes. But during ongoing building and development, mosquitoes will remain a serious problem. Regular treatment is needed throughout the construction period.

Is treating my villa alone enough or must the whole district be treated?

Treating one villa is insufficient. Mosquitoes migrate from open plots and neighbouring villas. Treating the whole district is best, but at minimum treating the open ground immediately surrounding the villa is essential.

Must Wadi Uranah itself be treated or just the surrounding ground?

Both the wadi and its margins together. Moisture from the wadi spreads into surrounding fields, and mosquitoes from the wadi fly to homes. Treating the wadi alone reduces pressure but is not a complete solution.

Will one treatment be enough or do we need repeated treatment all year?

In Al Souq Al Saghir Al Jadid one treatment is never enough. Rain, irrigation and ongoing development continuously create new water sources. Treatment every week or two is necessary.
