Does nearby demolition make my cockroach problem worse?

Yes. When a neighbouring building is pulled down, its cockroaches lose their shelter and head for the nearest standing home through the ground and the cracks. We start on the side that faces the cleared plot and close the entry points before treating inside.

My neighbour sprayed his home, will they move to mine?

In joined popular housing, yes. Spraying one unit pushes the cockroaches through the shared wall into the one next door instead of killing them. Bait works better here because it is carried back into the nest, and it helps to coordinate the treatment across both units.

Why are they worse on our ground floor?

Because the ground floor in these homes sits closest to the old drainage and its inspection covers, and the American cockroach climbs up from there, especially after rain. We check the pipe outlets and floor drains and secure their covers before any spray goes down.

There is a shop below my home, does that matter?

I bought a second-hand fridge, can it bring cockroaches?

It can. Used appliances, the fridge and washing machine especially, hide eggs in their warmth and seams. We check anything recently brought in, along with its motor and the water channel behind it, since it is a common way for the German cockroach to enter the kitchen.
