We confirm it is fleas rather than another biting insect, and fix the animal's sleeping points, its routes and the shaded ground outside. Where there is no animal in the house, we look for the host they came from.

A residual with an insect growth regulator, worked into the carpet base, the floor and wall junction and the edges under furniture. The regulator stops a larva becoming an adult, which is what breaks the cycle.

We treat the shaded ground and the outdoor lying spots, and we agree with you that the animal's veterinary treatment happens on the same day, because any host left out of the job re-seeds the floor.

Vacuuming, then the follow-up visit

Repeated vacuuming vibrates the floor and draws the pupae out onto a treated surface. We come back about two weeks later to take the emerged generation before it lays.

Questions about this district

Does Al Murjan's high humidity mean more fleas than the districts south of here?

Yes. Humidity accelerates breeding and extends their survival. Fleas that would starve after weeks in dry air can last months in high humidity. Al Murjan's conditions favour them far more than the inland districts.

Salt moisture in the air soaks into the flat. Does this help fleas?

Exactly. Salt and humidity creep through the walls slowly, especially near windows and external doors, creating permanent damp patches where fleas hide and breed uninterrupted.

Should I keep the windows closed during treatment in Al Murjan?

Yes, very much so. Salt air does not kill the spray but dilutes it, and opening windows lets damp air in and weakens the treatment's hold. Keep windows shut for 48 hours after application.

Treatment was a month ago and now one flea has appeared on my clothes. Where from?

Very possible. A hotel nearby with fleas may spread them via staff clothing and luggage. Visiting guests from other infested hotels may bring them in their bags. If fleas keep returning, the neighbouring hotel may well be the source.
