Flea control in Al Naseem Makkah

Al Naseem in Makkah is an orderly planned district on the Fourth Ring Road, but its location next to pilgrim hotels and furnished flats that fill seasonally means fleas arrive with guests and luggage and rented furniture. Treatment must happen before the Umrah season, not after it ends.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in Al Naseem

Hotels and furnished apartments around the district empty and refill their furniture between seasons, and maintenance workers carry old furniture from hotel to hotel and flat to flat. Fleas travel with it easily. The method is set out in full on the full Flea control page.

The first reason

Adjacent hotels receive fleas from every corner of the world

Pilgrims and Umrah visitors arrive from distant countries and their luggage may carry dormant fleas. Hotels near Al Naseem receive thousands of them, and fleas climb from the hotel to neighbouring flats through shared walls or carried by cleaning staff.

The second reason

Furnished flats exchange furniture seasonally

Rental apartments receive second-hand furniture from other hotels and flats between seasons. This furniture may carry dormant fleas, and rental staff do not inspect it before moving it. Treatment before guests leave is more effective than treatment of an empty space after they go.

The third reason

The season arrives and infestation erupts suddenly

The district is quiet of stray animals but seasonal visitors carry fleas in their clothes and bags. A month before the Umrah peak, infestations appear suddenly and spread fast between flats and hotels because movement of people and goods is constant.

The resting places map the infestation

A planned modern district arranged in an orderly grid between the university and Al Awali, with new villas and flats, yet adjacent hotels receive thousands of seasonal guests who carry fleas from their home countries.

A close view of dense carpet pile

The base of the carpet

The carpet in a furnished flat carries more fleas than carpet in a private villa because guest feet bring them every season.

An empty pet bed on a room floor

Where the animal sleeps

Pets belonging to guests do not usually travel, but the guests themselves leave fleas everywhere they sit and sleep.

A fine toothed comb on a white towel

Flea dirt

Flea droppings appear a week after guests leave, in the carpet, mattresses and chairs they used.

The underside edge of a fabric sofa

Furniture edges and upholstery

Edges of rented furniture may carry fleas that slept through the previous season because quick inspections do not find them.

Gaps between wooden floor boards

Joints in a hard floor

Floor joints in furnished flats where hired beds are assembled make perfect hiding places for young fleas fleeing treated surfaces.

Damp shaded soil beneath shrubs

Damp shade outdoors

Damp shade outside the furnished flat in the hotel courtyard shelters fleas that climb from lower floors.

How we work

  1. 1

    Inspect and confirm

We confirm it is fleas rather than another biting insect, and fix the animal's sleeping points, its routes and the shaded ground outside. Where there is no animal in the house, we look for the host they came from.

  2. 2

Treat the floors and soft furnishings

A residual with an insect growth regulator, worked into the carpet base, the floor and wall junction and the edges under furniture. The regulator stops a larva becoming an adult, which is what breaks the cycle.

  3. 3

The host and the shade outside

We treat the shaded ground and the outdoor lying spots, and we agree with you that the animal's veterinary treatment happens on the same day, because any host left out of the job re-seeds the floor.

  4. 4

    Vacuuming, then the follow-up visit

Repeated vacuuming vibrates the floor and draws the pupae out onto a treated surface. We come back about two weeks later to take the emerged generation before it lays.

What flea control includes

  • A technician inspecting with a flashlight

    Confirmation before anything is applied

Telling a flea bite from the alternatives, and fixing the resting places and the centre of the infestation.

  • A spray nozzle in close detail

Carpet base and floor line treatment

A residual and a growth regulator worked down into the pile and under furniture edges, not laid across the visible surface.

  • A metal floor drain

    Shade and damp outdoors

The shaded patches by entrances and around drains and taps, the only ground outside where larvae survive.

  • A gloved hand applying bait into a joint

The source when there is no pet

Stray cats sheltering under an outside stair, or rodents in the voids, each handled on a different footing.

  • A clean kitchen counter after treatment

    The vacuum schedule and aftercare

When to vacuum, how to empty the machine, and why the carpet is not steam cleaned afterwards. Ventilation time we give you on the call, because it changes with the product and the space.

  • The visit report being written on a clipboard

    A follow-up timed to emergence

A date about two weeks on, timed to the pupae leaving the cocoons, and re-treatment of any room where fresh bites are still starting.

What is different about Al Aziziyah (Makkah) Sub-Municipality

Al Aziziyah sub municipality runs from the Bin Dawood markets to the Al Hada road and carries pilgrim traffic to Mina. Hotel towers and furnished apartment blocks fill and empty with the Hajj and Ramadan seasons, and the kitchens, restaurants and markets along Al Masjid Al Haram Road and King Abdulaziz Road leave food waste at every peak. Southwards the fabric loosens into villas and planned streets in An Naseem and Al Awali, then Al Abidiyah's campus and the old farms of Al Husayniyah, where Wadi Uranah holds water after rain and farm enclosures shelter rodents and reptiles.

Questions about this district

The hotel next to us hosts foreign pilgrims. Do their luggage carry fleas?

Yes. Pilgrims and Umrah visitors come from distant countries where flea species may differ. Luggage and clothes may carry dormant fleas, and shared walls between hotel and flat allow them to cross.

The furnished flat beside us may have furniture from an old hotel. Does it carry fleas?

Very likely. Furnished apartments buy second-hand furniture from older hotels and previous rentals, and quick inspections do not find fleas sleeping in fabric seams.

Hotel cleaners service the furnished flat next to us. Do they carry fleas?

Possibly. Cleaners move between the hotel and furnished flats, and their clothes and tools may carry fleas from the hotel into your neighbour's space.

Do we need preventive treatment in Al Naseem right before the Umrah season starts?

Yes. Preventive treatment before the season is better than chaotic treatment after widespread infestation. Fleas emerge suddenly when pilgrims and Umrah visitors arrive in large numbers.

Guests sleep in our furnished flat for two weeks. How often per year must we treat?

At least twice, before the Umrah season and again a week after it ends. Guests leave fleas behind in carpets, furniture and bedding.

Our furniture is second-hand from an old furnished flat in a hotel. Could it carry dormant fleas?

Yes, very likely. Furniture from hotels and furnished apartments may carry fleas that sleep for years. Inspect it under bright light and you may need immediate treatment when you bring it home.

How much does flea control in Al Naseem cost?

It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Al Naseem.
