The lanes are so narrow that air cannot move through them, and moisture stays trapped at ground level. Treatment takes much longer to dry because ventilation is very poor, and humidity can revive fleas or delay their death.

Ancient stone floors and wide cracked joints

The floors are old stone with wide gaps and cracked mortar that crumbles easily. Fleas hide in these deep joints and the cracks branch in many directions. The mortar may be older than the houses built on top of it.

We treat the shaded ground and the outdoor lying spots, and we agree with you that the animal's veterinary treatment happens on the same day, because any host left out of the job re-seeds the floor.

Vacuuming, then the follow-up visit

Repeated vacuuming vibrates the floor and draws the pupae out onto a treated surface. We come back about two weeks later to take the emerged generation before it lays.
