We read the take at each station, replenish what has gone, remove anything found, and close any opening that showed itself once the movement settled.

Questions about this district

Why is a flat above a shop more at risk from rodents than others?

The shop attracts rodents with food and water, and the flat above becomes their natural shelter at night. Rodents climb via shared drainage pipes and air conditioning conduits between the shop and flat.

Will treating only the ground shop protect the flat above?

Temporarily yes, but rodents migrate in from neighbouring shops that are not treated. The shop and flat must be treated together to keep them out.

Is the gap under the shop door the main entry point for rodents?

It is one entry, but the main route is from below the floor via old drainage and sewers. Ventilation grilles set in the floors are equally easy, and rodents prefer the invisible routes.

Does water from the air conditioning condenser attract rodents to the shop?

Yes. Condensate pools beside shops and rodents drink from it and stay close by. Drainage channels for condensation supply year round moisture that rodents depend on.

How often should a shop and flat above it be treated each year here?

Monthly for the shop and quarterly for the flat above is best. But if adjacent shops are not treated, the flat may need treatment more often as pressure pushes in from the sides.

Does marble flooring in newer shops stop rodents entering from below?

Flooring does not stop them. Rodents enter from beneath, and new marble may be easier because gaps under it are more visible and less blocked with old sealant.
