Night survey and perimeter inspection

We walk the perimeter after dark with an ultraviolet lamp, which makes a scorpion show up against wall and soil, and we record the harbourage, the ways in and how much prey is present.

Treat the harbourage and the building edge

Dust into the wall joints and the dry voids, and a targeted band tight against the foundation and around openings, because the material holds longer on a porous surface than on tile.

Close the ways in and remove the prey

A sweep under the doors, sealing where air-conditioning and drain pipes pass through, mesh over openings, and treatment of the cockroaches and insects it feeds on, so the reason to come in goes with them.

The follow-up visit

A scorpion can sit in its harbourage for weeks without moving, so the first pass does not always reach it. We come back to refresh the perimeter band and check what has appeared since.

Al Misfalah sub municipality runs downhill from the south of the Grand Mosque through Al Misfalah, Kudai and Al Rawabi to Al Taqwa, Al Hindawiyah, Al Khalidiyah and Al Rusayfah at the third ring road. The outer wall is essential but not enough on its own. We focus especially on the wall facing the hill with stronger treatment. Extra treatment around corners and entry points may be needed.

Is living higher up safer from scorpions than lower floors?

No, scorpions climb outer walls easily and reach high floors readily. The ground floor may sometimes be less exposed.

Do cables and pipes on the outer wall help scorpions climb?

Yes, cables and pipes provide pathways. We advise keeping them away from the wall or covering them with smooth material.
