Inspect and trace

We sound the timber and the skirting, take moisture readings, and follow the tubes to the point where they leave the soil. We also settle the species, because one that lives inside dry wood is not treated like one that lives in the ground.

Treat the soil around the building

A narrow trench at the footing and injection at regular spacing, so the treated band runs continuous with no gap to walk around.

Drill the joints, inject the timber

Small holes at spacing along the slab joints, the wall bases and the pipe entries, direct injection into the galleries inside the affected timber, then the holes are closed and made good.

Bait stations and monitoring

Stations in the soil carrying a slow-acting material the workers pass through the colony by mouth-to-mouth feeding, and we come back to read them, because an empty tube on a wall proves nothing on its own.

Excavation happens near my new house almost every month. Does it affect the treatment?

New digging cuts through the chemical barrier we place in the soil. If the excavation is too close we need to retreat after the work finishes.

Can termites from deep excavations reach the upper floors of a new villa?

Termites awakened by digging start at the base, but may not reach upper storeys if the house is new and the seal is good. Ground floors and foundation slabs are most at risk.

There are many vacant plots in this scheme. Do they make the problem worse?

Disturbed vacant plots trap moisture and hide colonies. If one borders your house and stays undeveloped for months, termites there might shift sideways toward your new footings.

How often must a new house be inspected in year one?

Inspect every two months during year one if the site is active, especially if excavation continues around your house. After year one, if none are found, inspections can be less frequent.

The soil here is red and heavy. Does it have more termites than other soils?

Heavy clay holds moisture, so it may support larger colonies. But the clay itself restricts termite spread unless excavation breaks it apart.
