Termite control in Rashidiyah Makkah

Rashidiyah is the villa quarter of Al Sharai, a planned neighbourhood in the far east of Makkah bounded by the Taif expressway to the north with King Abdulaziz Sports City on its western edge. Wadi Mudarraja cuts through it in a natural line that gathers seasonal water. Villas stand on spacious plots with gardens; the soil beneath is deep red and retains moisture for months.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in Rashidiyah

Gardens are intensive and near-continuous irrigation is the norm against Makkah's heat. The soil around footings and perimeter walls stays damp in all seasons, feeding termite colonies that are never water stressed. The method is set out in full on our Termite control service.

The first reason

Irrigated gardens and perpetual soil moisture

Villas in Rashidiyah are surrounded by daily-watered gardens needed to survive the fierce Makkah heat. Continuous irrigation keeps the soil around footings permanently moist, which drives termite activity because termites seek moisture rather than avoid it. A colony in saturated soil is at its most vigorous.

The second reason

Wadi Mudarraja and deep seasonal water rise

The wadi cutting through Rashidiyah collects rainfall from high mountains to the east. After heavy rain the water table rises deep in the red soil. Villas close to the wadi channel experience raised groundwater that can reach critical depth beneath footings weeks after rain and mobilise established colonies.

The third reason

Deep red soil and the largest colonies

The red soil in Rashidiyah is deep and fertile ground for massive colonies. Termites tunnel far deeper in this soil than in sandy neighbour areas, so their surface tubes may never reach the walls; food and moisture are abundant in the depths and the colony can grow for years unobserved.

Rashidiyah on the map

Rashidiyah sits about 2 km from Tarwiyah and about 2.5 km from Uhud.

The evidence that decides the treatment

Rashidiyah sits at mid elevation on the east of Makkah. The wadi that runs through it collects runoff from higher slopes to the east. The deep red soil holds moisture, especially near the wadi channel where water rises seasonally from below.

Narrow mud tubes running up a concrete wall

Mud tubes

Mud tubes in Rashidiyah originate from colonies very deep in the red soil and may appear on walls well above ground level because the insects tunnel from great depth.

Discarded transparent wings on a window ledge

Shed wings

Shed wings appear strongly after heavy rains when the water table rises and mobilises deep colonies that mature and release swarmers in larger than typical numbers.

A damaged timber frame showing internal galleries

Hollow timber

Hollow timber is common in veranda ceilings, timber fencing, gates and screens that draw moisture from surrounding irrigated soil.

A dark damp patch below a pipe at a wall base

The water source

The water source is twofold: continuous daily irrigation and seasonal groundwater rise triggered by wadi flow and the water-holding capacity of deep red soil.

Cardboard boxes and timber stacked on a store floor

Cellulose on the floor

Cellulose on the floor includes buried timber, perimeter fencing touching damp soil, wooden veranda and pathway boards, and any timber mulch used in gardens.

A concrete joint and a pipe passing through a floor slab

Joints and pipe entries

Joints and pipe entries convey water from underground irrigation systems through walls and footings, and can be primary termite entry points where seals are not recent or fully effective.

How we work

  1. 1

    Inspect and trace

We sound the timber and the skirting, take moisture readings, and follow the tubes to the point where they leave the soil. We also settle the species, because one that lives inside dry wood is not treated like one that lives in the ground.

  2. 2

Treat the soil around the building

A narrow trench at the footing and injection at regular spacing, so the treated band runs continuous with no gap to walk around.

  3. 3

Drill the joints, inject the timber

Small holes at spacing along the slab joints, the wall bases and the pipe entries, direct injection into the galleries inside the affected timber, then the holes are closed and made good.

  4. 4

    Bait stations and monitoring

Stations in the soil carrying a slow-acting material the workers pass through the colony by mouth-to-mouth feeding, and we come back to read them, because an empty tube on a wall proves nothing on its own.

What termite control includes

  • A technician inspecting with a flashlight

    A traced, recorded inspection

Sounding, moisture readings, tubes traced back to the soil, and the species settled before anything is applied.

  • A spray nozzle in close detail

A treated band at the perimeter

Trenching and injection at the footing, spaced so the band is continuous rather than a set of patches.

  • A metal floor drain

    Joints and service penetrations

Slab joints, pipe entries and floor drains, which are the ways up through the concrete.

  • A gloved hand applying bait into a joint

    Bait stations in the soil

A slow material carried back through the colony by feeding exchange, rather than stopping the workers at the wall.

  • A clean kitchen counter after treatment

    Aftercare instructions

What not to dig or water near the treated band, what to keep off the walls, and the ventilation time we set for your case.

  • The visit report being written on a clipboard

    Scheduled monitoring visits

Reading the stations, sounding the same timber again, and treating any new activity.

Landmarks of Rashidiyah

Work in Rashidiyah is coordinated across the villa grid: the Makkah-Taif Expressway defines the northern boundary and divides initial access routes, while Al Rashidiyah Walkway provides safe pedestrian passages for treatment teams to move through without disturbing residents.

Questions about this district

Does daily garden irrigation increase termite activity in the villa?

Extremely. Termites are attracted to moisture and do not flee from it. Heavily irrigated gardens provide continuous moisture that draws deep-soil colonies upward toward footings.

Are villas close to Wadi Mudarraja more at risk than those farther away?

Yes. Villas close to the channel face raised groundwater after heavy rain. Water rises through the red soil and pushes deep colonies toward the building footings.

Does injection depth differ in red soil compared to lighter, sandier soil?

Yes. Red soil is deeper and denser; injection must reach at least one and a half metres because termite colonies tunnel far deeper in this soil than in sandy areas.

Must the garden soil around the villa be treated alongside footing treatment?

Yes. Treating the irrigation line and soil encircling the footing is essential. You cannot treat the villa alone and leave the irrigated garden, because termites will return from damp soil around the footing.

Does stopping irrigation temporarily after treatment help the chemical stay effective?

Yes. Irrigation must stop for a week or more after treatment so the chemical remains in the soil rather than being flushed by fresh watering. Early resumption of irrigation can reduce treatment effectiveness significantly.

Are new villas in Rashidiyah more at risk than older established ones?

New villas may be more at risk if built on previously vacant, moisture-saturated land. Preventive treatment before the build is complete is cheaper and far more effective than remedial work later.

How much does termite control in Rashidiyah cost?

It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Rashidiyah.
