Termite control in Tarwiyah Makkah
Tarwiyah is a renamed scheme east of settled Al Sharai, between Al Sharai and Al Rashidiyah south of King Faisal Road, with new apartment buildings, villas and residential plots on a regular grid. King Abdulaziz Sports City stands on the north eastern corner and Wadi Mudarraja runs along the east side. Building advances on regular lines across land that was desert, and each new house sits closer to dormant termites in the original ground.

Targeted, not broadcast

-
A follow-up visit
We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

Why they keep coming back in Tarwiyah
Regular building and new planning uncover termites in closely spaced soil, and footings reach the permanent moisture layer. The method is set out in full on Termite control in detail.
Original desert soil holds dormant colonies
Desert soil beneath Tarwiyah holds dormant termite colonies. New orderly building digs closely spaced footings on a regular grid. Each excavation may wake a colony, and recently awakened colonies climb the new walls.
Close building and regular street grid
Footings are close on the regular grid, effectively sharing one soil system. Termites in original ground spread easily from one footing to the next. Close building means unified treatment, not treatment of single houses.
Wadi Mudarraja and seasonal floods
The wadi runs from the east and carries water after rain. Houses near the wadi channel may suffer trapped ground moisture. Water from the wadi provides an open highway for termites.
The character of Tarwiyah
New development: ongoing construction and vacant plots between the homes
New building on a regular grid means closely spaced footings in one effective soil system. Termites awakened in one house travel easily to neighbouring houses through shared ground. Effective protection demands unified thinking, not individual treatment.
The evidence that decides the treatment
The district sits on plains between Wadi Mudarraja and Al Rashidiyah. The ground is flat but holds deep clay containing groundwater. The wadi runs along the eastern side and carries water seasonally.
Mud tubes
Mud tubes in the original soil lie very deep, and closely spaced new foundation excavations cut through them.
Shed wings
Discarded wings appear in spring and autumn when moisture from the wadi and floods reaches deep termite layers.
Hollow timber
Timber in new footings and floors is exposed because awakened termites lie very close.
The water source
Moisture here comes from deep clay holding groundwater and from seasonal Wadi Mudarraja floods.
Cellulose on the floor
Ground-contact timber in new footings is exposed because surrounding soil may hold awakened termites.
Joints and pipe entries
Joints and pipe entries in closely spaced footings are pathways for termites to spread from one house to the next.
How we work
-
1
Inspect and trace
We sound the timber and the skirting, take moisture readings, and follow the tubes to the point where they leave the soil. We also settle the species, because one that lives inside dry wood is not treated like one that lives in the ground.
-
2
Treat the soil around the building
A narrow trench at the footing and injection at regular spacing, so the treated band runs continuous with no gap to walk around.
-
3
Drill the joints, inject the timber
Small holes at spacing along the slab joints, the wall bases and the pipe entries, direct injection into the galleries inside the affected timber, then the holes are closed and made good.
-
4
Bait stations and monitoring
Stations in the soil carrying a slow-acting material the workers pass through the colony by mouth-to-mouth feeding, and we come back to read them, because an empty tube on a wall proves nothing on its own.
What termite control includes
-
A traced, recorded inspection
Sounding, moisture readings, tubes traced back to the soil, and the species settled before anything is applied.
-
A treated band at the perimeter
Trenching and injection at the footing, spaced so the band is continuous rather than a set of patches.
-
Joints and service penetrations
Slab joints, pipe entries and floor drains, which are the ways up through the concrete.
-
Bait stations in the soil
A slow material carried back through the colony by feeding exchange, rather than stopping the workers at the wall.
-
Aftercare instructions
What not to dig or water near the treated band, what to keep off the walls, and the ventilation time we set for your case.
-
Scheduled monitoring visits
Reading the stations, sounding the same timber again, and treating any new activity.
What is different about Al Sharai Sub-Municipality
Al Sharai is the eastern growth front of Makkah along King Faisal Road and the Taif road. Settled quarters sit beside recently renamed schemes where plots are still vacant and buildings are going up, so construction sites, fill and open excavations lie next to occupied homes. Wadi channels such as Wadi Mudarraja, Wadi Al Sharai and Wadi Al Mughammas carry flash floods after rain and dry out to damp silt, while dust blows off the open hills. Roadside shops, restaurants and warehouses line the Taif road, and to the east the area shades into villages, palm farms and springs.
Questions about this district
Our house is new in Tarwiyah and the scheme is almost complete. Do we need treatment now or can we wait?
Treatment now is better. Building around your house will wake dormant termites. Treating the footings from the start provides protection against awakened colonies.
Footings are close and building is almost touching. Is treating my house alone enough?
Treating your house alone offers partial protection, but termites spread easily from your neighbour's footing through shared soil. Treating the whole scheme together is better.
The wadi beside the building carries seasonal water. Does it increase termites?
Yes. Water from the wadi raises soil moisture. Houses very close to the wadi channel face higher risk.
King Abdulaziz Sports City is right beside us. Does it affect termites?
The sports city may be treated or infested. What matters is that building around your house will wake termites in the shared soil.
How often should a new house in a newly developed scheme be inspected?
Inspect every three months initially. After year one if none are found inspections can move to every six months.
The scheme was renamed and building is new. Does that mean it is safe from termites?
Renaming and new infrastructure does not mean new ground. The soil beneath is old and holds dormant termites. Building awakens them.
How much does termite control in Tarwiyah cost?
It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Tarwiyah.
