How we work

Inspect and map the spread

We strip the bed and work through the mattress and base seams, the frame joints, the headboard and the skirting, then check the upholstered furniture and the neighbouring rooms to see how far it has gone.

Laundry, heat and steam

Bedding is bagged and sealed inside the room, then washed and dried hot. Steam runs along the seams and edges, because heat reaches the cemented eggs that a liquid never will.

Targeted, non-repellent application

A non-repellent product goes onto the harbourage itself, with a dust into voids and screw holes. We do not use a repellent aerosol, because it drives the insect deeper into the wall and into the next room.

Monitoring and the follow-up visit

A sealed encasement goes onto the mattress and the base, with monitors under the bed legs, then we return once the remaining eggs have hatched and re-treat anything still active.

Questions about this district

Our workshop has a rest room attached to the house, does its bedding need checking too?

Yes, any bedding actually slept on counts, whether it's in the workshop rest room or in the house itself. Bed bugs don't distinguish between the two.

Does Wadi Al Mughammas flooding near our outer wall affect the beds against that wall?

The damp the floodwater leaves on the outer wall sometimes reaches the bedding against it, so we give those beds extra attention during inspection and treatment.

We camp most Fridays at Al Wadi Al Akhdar, does our bedding need checking after every trip?

Yes. Bedding and blankets used for camping in the open are exposed to different conditions from a bedroom, so it's safer to check them before they go back onto the bed or into the cupboard.

Trucks unload second hand furniture at the nearby warehouse yard, does that raise our risk?

A loading yard nearby doesn't mean automatic transfer, but any piece of furniture that comes from that yard into our house is worth checking before use, especially anything upholstered.

Our new house is built on raw land in Mughammas, does its brand new furniture need checking?

Completely new furniture rarely carries bed bugs, but the truck or warehouse it passed through before reaching us might be enough to carry them, so a first check for peace of mind does no harm.

The nearby warehouse guard sometimes borrows a spare mattress from us, should we check it when it's returned?

Yes, any bedding that leaves the house and comes back is worth a quick check before it goes back into the cupboard, especially if it was used somewhere else even for one night.
