The wadi cuts across the area and its bed lies lower than the surrounding ground. After heavy rain the flood fills the wadi and water stays in the low spots for several weeks before it dries.

Warehouses and industrial buildings sit surrounded by bare land and open pits. Every building excavation or underground storage space traps water easily and becomes a persistent mosquito source.

Low terrain and enclosing hills

The area is circled by Jabal Al Tariqi and Jabal Al Khatm hills and sits in a depression between them. Run-off from the slopes flows down into the wadi and the low pits.

We walk the perimeter, the roof, the garden, the meter chambers and the condensate runs, record everything that holds water, and read the species from the breeding site and the time of biting.

Remove the water that can go

Empty, invert, cover: saucers, containers, old tyres and roof gullies. Every point that disappears is a treatment that never needs repeating.

Larval treatment, then the resting surfaces

Water that cannot be drained is treated so the larva never completes, then a residual goes under planting, beneath outdoor furniture and along low shaded walls.

The follow-up visit

We come back once the generation that was in the water on the first visit has completed, review every point we recorded and re-treat where needed.

Is Wadi Al Mughammas itself the main mosquito source?

Exactly. The wadi carries rain water and holds it, and it is the biggest mosquito source in the area. Treating the district alone will not fix the core problem if the wadi stays infected.

Do pits under warehouses collect breeding water?

Yes. Warehouses with underground rooms or deep pits trap water easily. These spaces need special treatment because they are enclosed.

Will treating just the industrial district reduce the mosquitoes?

It helps, but the wadi remains a source. A real solution needs co-operation with the municipality to treat the wadi itself or drain it quickly.
