Inspect and map the spread

We strip the bed and work through the mattress and base seams, the frame joints, the headboard and the skirting, then check the upholstered furniture and the neighbouring rooms to see how far it has gone.

Laundry, heat and steam

Bedding is bagged and sealed inside the room, then washed and dried hot. Steam runs along the seams and edges, because heat reaches the cemented eggs that a liquid never will.

Targeted, non-repellent application

A non-repellent product goes onto the harbourage itself, with a dust into voids and screw holes. We do not use a repellent aerosol, because it drives the insect deeper into the wall and into the next room.

Monitoring and the follow-up visit

A sealed encasement goes onto the mattress and the base, with monitors under the bed legs, then we return once the remaining eggs have hatched and re-treat anything still active.

We check each floor once its furnishing is complete rather than the whole villa in one go, since some floors stay empty for months while another is used daily, and that changes where we look between visits.

Our villa borders a vacant plot where the contractor stores materials, does that put the ground floor rooms at risk?

The materials themselves do not carry bed bugs, but the contractor's workers sometimes rest near the boundary wall, so we give the ground floor wall next to that plot extra attention during the check.

Wadi Mudarraja dries out after rain and leaves damp silt near back walls, does that matter for those rooms?

The damp itself does not attract bed bugs, but it leads some households to move a bed away from the back wall for a while, and we check the new spot as carefully as the old one.

We buy some second hand furniture from shops at Basanbal Market nearby, does it need checking?

The upper floor of our building still has no windows, does that keep the flats separate for checking?

Our internal road is not paved yet and trucks deliver to several houses a day, does that raise the risk?
