Bed bug control in Sharai Makkah

Al Sharai is a large residential area in the north east of Makkah along King Faisal Road, laid out on a regular grid with flats and villas, a park and many mosques. The western boundary of the Haram runs along the district, and the medium apartment blocks and modern villas make movement between units easy when infestation occurs.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in Sharai

Flats in Al Sharai are medium sized and villas sit close together, and infestation in one villa can spread quickly to its neighbours. The method is set out in full on the full Bed bug control page.

The first reason

Neighbouring villas and shared walls

Villas in Al Sharai sit close together and walls between them are shared or very close. Bed bugs move from one villa to the next through gaps in walls or shared foundations.

The second reason

The regular grid and second hand furniture

The relatively new villas in Al Sharai are furnished sometimes with new pieces and sometimes with second hand items. Used furniture from an old district or market may be contaminated. Every new villa receives furniture that may carry bed bugs.

The third reason

Proximity to the Haram boundary and seasonal guests

Al Sharai sits close to the Haram boundary and flats may attract seasonal guests. Every visitor may bring bed bugs from a hotel or a neighbouring district.

Sofas and armchairs

The sofa and armchair may come from Al Sharai market or an older infested district.

How we work

  1. 1

    Inspect and map the spread

We strip the bed and work through the mattress and base seams, the frame joints, the headboard and the skirting, then check the upholstered furniture and the neighbouring rooms to see how far it has gone.

  2. 2

    Laundry, heat and steam

Bedding is bagged and sealed inside the room, then washed and dried hot. Steam runs along the seams and edges, because heat reaches the cemented eggs that a liquid never will.

  3. 3

    Targeted, non-repellent application

A non-repellent product goes onto the harbourage itself, with a dust into voids and screw holes. We do not use a repellent aerosol, because it drives the insect deeper into the wall and into the next room.

  4. 4

    Monitoring and the follow-up visit

A sealed encasement goes onto the mattress and the base, with monitors under the bed legs, then we return once the remaining eggs have hatched and re-treat anything still active.

What bed bug control includes

  • A technician inspecting with a flashlight

    A recorded inspection

Mattress and base seams, frame joints, the headboard, the skirting and every upholstered piece in the room.

  • A spray nozzle in close detail

    Steam and targeted application

Steam along the seams and edges, and a non-repellent product on the harbourage itself, not on the surfaces you sleep on.

  • A metal floor drain

    Voids and pipe entries

Behind the skirting, around pipe entries and under socket plates, which is the route from one unit to the next.

  • A gloved hand applying bait into a joint

    Monitors under the bed legs

Checked at every visit, they show remaining activity before the bites do.

  • A clean kitchen counter after treatment

    Laundry, encasement and aftercare

The hot wash and dryer routine, a sealed encasement on the mattress and base, and what must not be carried out of the room.

  • The visit report being written on a clipboard

A follow-up timed to the hatch

A date set on the hatch, and re-treatment of anything still active.

Questions about this district

Can bed bugs spread easily from one villa to a neighbouring one in Al Sharai?

Yes, shared walls and close foundations provide movement routes. Bed bugs can travel from one villa to the next in days.

Is treating one villa sufficient or must neighbouring villas also be treated?

If the neighbouring villas sit very close and walls are shared, inspection may find infestation next door. Treatment may need to expand.

Is second hand furniture from Al Sharai market or old districts safe to buy?

Second hand furniture from any source may be contaminated. Inspect the mattress, frame and sofa before bringing it into the villa.

Can a seasonal guest staying in the villa bring bed bugs from a hotel?

Guests from hotels or different districts may carry bed bugs. Checking after a guest leaves is essential.

Does preventive treatment before a new guest arrives protect against bed bugs?

Preventive treatment of the villa and furniture before a guest arrives may reduce risk, but careful inspection is more important.

Are new villas in Al Sharai less exposed than old flats elsewhere?

New villas may be as exposed as old flats if walls are shared and furniture is second hand. New building does not protect against spread.

How much does bed bug control in Sharai cost?

It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Sharai.
