Villas and apartment buildings are still being built, Wadi Obhur passes through it, and some streets remain unpaved with drainage networks incomplete. Why they keep coming back in Al Asalah

Buildings close to the sports complex see larger pigeon populations than villas on distant edges, and pigeons migrate from the park and public gardens. The method is set out in full on how we approach Bird and pigeon control.

The first reason

King Abdullah Sports City as a nearby attraction

The sports complex and public gardens within it supply water, food and shelter for pigeons, and the distance to Al Asalah is short. Pigeons commute from the complex to villas and apartments seeking night roosts, and control needs heavy duty ledge installation.

The second reason

Seasonal Wadi Obhur and temporary water pools

Wadi Obhur runs through the district and collects water during rains, and those pools provide drinking sources for pigeons. Pigeons nest on buildings near the wadi and exploit the seasonal water, and treatment includes gaps close to the wadi.

The third reason

Unpaved streets and incomplete drainage

The new district has unfinished streets and incomplete drainage networks, creating standing water in excavations and depressions. Water, mud and dust support insects and birds, and pigeons find everything they need in those conditions.

Survey the roof and the facade

We walk the roof, the projections, the condenser platforms and the shafts, separate the nesting positions from the perching ones, and measure and photograph every ledge.

Strip the nests and treat the parasites

Droppings are wetted before they are lifted so nothing goes airborne dry, bagged closed, and the nest position is treated for ticks and mites before the surface is sanitised.

Close and fit

Netting tensioned on a perimeter wire with no gap at the corners, spikes or wire on the narrow projections, metal mesh across vents and shafts, and the roof drains freed of the nest material packing them.

The follow-up visit

We come back to check the tension, the corners and any position the flock has moved to, and correct what has slackened before a bird finds it.

Every ledge, condenser platform and shaft, photographed, with nesting separated from perching before anything is chosen.

Questions about this district

The sports complex is very close; do all the pigeons come from there?

Most pigeons originate from the complex and adjacent public gardens, but some may arrive from more distant districts. The complex is the primary pressure point, and good barriers protect you but numbers may be substantial.

Wadi Obhur flows in winter; does it bring new pigeons every rainy season?

The wadi supplies seasonal fresh water and pigeons use it, but it does not bring new flocks. Resident pigeons persist and numbers rise slightly when water is available.

The villa is new with an irrigated garden; do pigeons migrate from garden to ledge?

Yes, garden water and plants attract pigeons, and they easily move to roof and ledges. Reducing irrigation and selective pruning helps, but roof barriers are the core solution.

The street is unpaved and building continues; does treatment differ?

Treatment is identical but access may be difficult during construction. We coordinate with the building team for safe working, and timing occurs before major structural work ends.

My villa is on a distant edge; are pigeon numbers lower there?

Yes, villas distant from the complex and parks see fewer pigeons, but birds migrate in search of water and shelter. Barriers are necessary even at the periphery.

Will completing drainage and paving reduce pigeons in the future?

Yes, improved drainage and paving will eliminate pools and gaps and reduce attraction. But even after improvements, roof barriers remain necessary.

How much does bird and pigeon control in Al Asalah cost?
