We walk the roof, the projections, the condenser platforms and the shafts, separate the nesting positions from the perching ones, and measure and photograph every ledge.

Droppings are wetted before they are lifted so nothing goes airborne dry, bagged closed, and the nest position is treated for ticks and mites before the surface is sanitised.

Close and fit

Netting tensioned on a perimeter wire with no gap at the corners, spikes or wire on the narrow projections, metal mesh across vents and shafts, and the roof drains freed of the nest material packing them.

The ledge weeps water; do pigeons cause the leak or is it pre existing damp?

Coastal moisture is present anyway, but pigeons worsen it dramatically through droppings and fracture damage. Once we remove the pigeons and seal the cracks, water ingress drops but the background humidity needs wider drainage work.

My old flat has deep cracks in the ledge; will barriers stay fixed?

Fractured ledges need repair first with grout or simple rebuild work. Once the surface is stable and level, the barrier anchors securely and carries its own weight and wind load.

How often do they return because of the salt and humidity?
