Ravines sloping towards Wadi Mudarraja form ideal natural pigeon gathering points. Pigeons migrate from these ravines to open ground and then to new buildings. Pigeon numbers stay constant year round because seasonal water and natural food sustain them.

Rare buildings become concentrated nesting targets

The few buildings amid vacant land attract intense pigeon focus. Pigeons seek safe elevated places, and the handful of new buildings become obvious nesting destinations. Each house may carry multiple nests because pigeon pressure is very high.

Wadi Al Jaranah and nearby villages increase load

Wadi Al Jaranah and the close Al Jaranah villages supply steady water and food for pigeons. Birds migrate from these natural zones to new buildings seeking nesting sites. Pressure rises in wet seasons when the wadi runs and food is abundant.

The scheme sits on open hilly ground between Uhud and Wadi Al Jaranah, reached from Al Jaranah Road on the west. Planned plots with little building yet, cut by small ravines that drain towards Wadi Mudarraja. Wide spacing between buildings and open ground provide steady food sources.

How we work

Survey the roof and the facade

We walk the roof, the projections, the condenser platforms and the shafts, separate the nesting positions from the perching ones, and measure and photograph every ledge.

Strip the nests and treat the parasites

Droppings are wetted before they are lifted so nothing goes airborne dry, bagged closed, and the nest position is treated for ticks and mites before the surface is sanitised.

Close and fit

Netting tensioned on a perimeter wire with no gap at the corners, spikes or wire on the narrow projections, metal mesh across vents and shafts, and the roof drains freed of the nest material packing them.

The follow-up visit

We come back to check the tension, the corners and any position the flock has moved to, and correct what has slackened before a bird finds it.

Ravines and open ground around my house supply pigeon food. What do I do?

You cannot treat natural open ground. Treatment of your house focuses on strong ledge deterrents. Constant pressure from the ravines means deterrents must be very robust and effective.

How many treatments per year does Zamzam need?

Ravines and wadi supply constant pigeon numbers. One treatment in year one may not suffice. Treatment every three to four months is recommended because pressure stays very high.

Do pigeons live in the ravines and only visit houses, or do they nest on the houses too?
