Cockroach control in Hatim Makkah

Hatim sits at the far eastern edge of the Al Sharai municipal area, where irrigated farmland meets raw plots that have not yet been built on. That makes this two problems, not one. Large American cockroaches cross in from the fields and open ground after dark, while German cockroaches arrive inside the kitchens of newly built villas. So the work has to face the outside and the inside together, not just what is showing.

Why they keep coming back in Hatim

In the Hatim houses closest to the farms, the first sighting is usually a single large American cockroach near the kitchen door or a drain opening, not a group already living indoors. The method is set out in full on our Cockroach control service.

The first reason

A farmed edge that pushes from outside

Homes in Hatim are not ringed by other homes. They are ringed by irrigated land and bare plots. That means the American cockroach here has an outdoor source that renews every night, so treating the inside alone will not hold unless we close the routes it uses to get in from the perimeter.

The second reason

Septic tanks, not a finished sewer

Many of the edge plots in Hatim still rely on septic tanks and soakaways rather than a completed mains network, and that is ideal breeding ground for the American cockroach. We check the manholes and drain openings before we touch the kitchen, because here the problem rises from below.

The third reason

New villas and kitchens that travel

Hatim is being built right now, and its kitchens and appliances arrive new, carried in on lorries and from stores that can bring the German cockroach with them. This one does not come from the field. It comes from packing cardboard and fitted units, so we look for it in cabinet joints and behind appliance motors, not at the door.

The species and the place decide the method

The irrigated farmland and raw subdivisions around Hatim stay damp and open all year, giving the American cockroach water and shelter within a few metres of the nearest occupied house. When the heat builds, it moves indoors.

German cockroach

The German cockroach reaches Hatim inside the kitchens of new villas and in packing cardboard, then stays close to warmth and water inside the cabinets and rarely leaves them.

The large American cockroach is Hatim's most common visitor, crossing in from irrigated land and septic tanks after dark and entering through drain openings and the gaps under external doors.

Appliance heat

Motor heat in the fridge and oven gives the German cockroach a steady source of warmth, and it is the first thing we check in Hatim's new kitchens.

The gap behind the fridge gathers warmth, moisture and food crumbs, which makes it a favoured hiding place that is hard to see, so we give it a specific check on every visit.

Water before food

Before food, a cockroach looks for water, and with farms and irrigation so close to Hatim a dripping tap or a pool of standing water is enough to keep one breeding.

What you see at night

What you see at night in Hatim is usually a roaming American cockroach that has come in from outside; seeing one indoors by day is a separate sign of a settled German nest.

We work through the kitchen, the bathrooms and the drain runs, and establish the species, the harbourage points and the moisture keeping them there.

Gel bait into joints and cracks, targeted spray where it is warranted, and dust in the dry voids behind appliances.

We point out the gaps, the drain entries and anything needing a plumber, because exclusion does more to stop a return than repeating the spray.

Questions about this district

Are the cockroaches coming from the farms next to us?

In Hatim, usually yes. The irrigated farmland gives the American cockroach water and shelter, and as the heat rises it crawls towards the nearest house. That is why we treat the entry points around the building as well as the inside; treat only indoors and it walks back in from outside within days.

We are on a septic tank rather than mains drainage. Does that matter?

Yes. A septic tank is ideal breeding ground for the American cockroach in the Hatim plots. We inspect and treat the manhole and drain openings and check that the covers seal properly, because treating the kitchen on its own leaves the real source working away beneath the house.

There is a bare, unbuilt plot beside our villa. Does it keep bringing them back?

A raw plot collects rubble and standing water and becomes an outdoor harbour we cannot control. We focus on stopping the crossing: the gaps under doors, the openings, and the perimeter of the building. We also suggest keeping rubble and water away from your wall so the pressure from outside eases.

Our villa is new. Why does it have cockroaches at all?

A new building does not mean an empty kitchen. The German cockroach arrives with packing cardboard, appliances and freshly fitted cabinets, and settles in before you move in. We inspect the joints and the backs of new appliances, because the nest starts small and hidden long before you notice it.

Does the cooler air up in Al Sharai reduce them?

In winter the American cockroach is less active on the higher Al Sharai ground, but it shelters in septic tanks and indoor warmth and returns with the heat. The German cockroach, by contrast, lives on the warmth of the kitchen all year and is not affected by the weather outside.

We are well outside central Makkah. Do you reach Hatim?

Yes. We cover Hatim, the eastern edge of Al Sharai and the neighbouring subdivisions such as Al Rashidiyah, Al Maghmas and Al Usaylah. Distance from the centre does not change the plan: we check the perimeter and the septic tanks first, then treat indoors where it counts, then return to close whatever survived.
