Mosquito control in Hatim Makkah
Hatim is farmland and raw schemes at the far eastern end of the Al Sharai sub municipality on both sides of the Makkah to Taif expressway near the hamlet of Al Hamidah. Farms and orchards line the bed of Wadi Al Sharai, Jabal Laban rises to the east, and rural houses are widely spaced.

Why they keep coming back in Hatim
Position in the wadi bed means seasonal flowing water and permanent baseline humidity. Farms are watered daily, constantly raising air humidity. The method is set out in full on Mosquito control in detail.
Wadi Al Sharai collects water from a wide area and leaves constant baseline humidity
Hatim sits in the bed of Wadi Al Sharai collecting water from across southern Al Sharai and eastward. Even in the dry season the wadi stays damp and soil is moisture-saturated. After rain water overflows and floods surrounding ground.
Farms and orchards provide daily irrigation water and shelter
Palm farms and orchards round Hatim are watered daily during the hot season. Irrigation water spreads into surrounding ground and persists standing in depressions. Shadow from palm canopy protects mosquitoes from rapid drying.
The small settlement and expressway bring humidity and activity
Al Hamidah hamlet raises local ambient humidity through human activity. The Taif expressway cuts the area and brings constant traffic. The mixed environment of farms, settlement and road creates multiple mosquito sources.
Hatim on the map
Hatim sits about 2 km from Thaniyah and about 3 km from Barakah.
Open in Google MapsStanding water and shade decide the method
Hatim lies on both sides of the Taif expressway in the bed of Wadi Al Sharai near Al Hamidah, farmland and palm groves providing natural drainage but also seasonal standing water.
The daytime biter
The daytime biter in Hatim shelters in shade from palm trees and orchards and deep shadow near the wadi bank.
The one that comes out after sunset
The night flying mosquito emerges from the wadi and orchards, entering houses through unprotected open windows.
Air-conditioning condensate
Wadi drainage and irrigation channels run beneath the ground round houses, raising permanent baseline humidity.
The tank and its openings
Water tanks and wells on farmland and their unsealed openings provide standing water year round.
Garden containers and irrigation
Daily irrigation of farms, orchards and small gardens provides continuous water, with depressions collecting drainage.
The shade it rests in
Dense shadow from palm trees and deep shadow in the wadi bed and shade from rural houses provide protected safe shelter.
How we work
-
1
Inspect and map the water
We walk the perimeter, the roof, the garden, the meter chambers and the condensate runs, record everything that holds water, and read the species from the breeding site and the time of biting.
-
2
Remove the water that can go
Empty, invert, cover: saucers, containers, old tyres and roof gullies. Every point that disappears is a treatment that never needs repeating.
-
3
Larval treatment, then the resting surfaces
Water that cannot be drained is treated so the larva never completes, then a residual goes under planting, beneath outdoor furniture and along low shaded walls.
-
4
The follow-up visit
We come back once the generation that was in the water on the first visit has completed, review every point we recorded and re-treat where needed.
What mosquito control includes
-
A recorded water survey
Roof, perimeter, garden, meter chambers and condensate lines, written down before anything is applied.
-
Draining and covering the sources
Emptying what can be emptied, draining what can be drained, and covering what has to stay full.
-
Larval treatment for the water that stays
For ground tanks, inspection chambers, water features and any permanent water that has to remain.
-
A residual on the resting places
Under trees and shrubs, beneath outdoor furniture and on shaded walls, where the adult sits out the day.
-
Aftercare instructions
What stays inverted, what gets covered, which openings need mesh, and when watering goes back to normal.
-
A scheduled follow-up
A set date after the first treatment, with every recorded water point reviewed and re-treated if the water came back.
What is different about Al Sharai Sub-Municipality
Al Sharai is the eastern growth front of Makkah along King Faisal Road and the Taif road. Settled quarters sit beside recently renamed schemes where plots are still vacant and buildings are going up, so construction sites, fill and open excavations lie next to occupied homes. Wadi channels such as Wadi Mudarraja, Wadi Al Sharai and Wadi Al Mughammas carry flash floods after rain and dry out to damp silt, while dust blows off the open hills. Roadside shops, restaurants and warehouses line the Taif road, and to the east the area shades into villages, palm farms and springs.
Questions about this district
Must Wadi Al Sharai itself be treated or only the surrounding farmland?
Both together. Water from the wadi spreads into adjacent farmland. Concentrated treatment of orchards and ground round houses is more practically effective.
Do farms and palm orchards create worse mosquito conditions than urban areas?
Yes. Continuous irrigation water and tree shade provide ideal breeding habitat. Mosquitoes proliferate during the irrigation season.
Is treating a single rural house enough or must the orchard be treated too?
Treating only the house is insufficient. Mosquitoes migrate from the orchard and the wadi. Treatment of irrigated ground round the house is necessary.
Does modern drip irrigation reduce mosquitoes by avoiding ponding?
Modern irrigation reduces standing water but drainage from irrigation spreads through the soil leaving high persistent humidity. Mosquitoes exploit this moisture.
Does the dry season cut mosquito numbers because the wadi drains naturally?
The dry season reduces mosquitoes from the wadi but continuous irrigation of farms provides year-round water. The environment remains damp.
Is treating Hatim alone sufficient or must surrounding areas also be treated?
Hatim adjoins Thaniyah and other eastern areas. Mosquitoes migrate between them, but treating Hatim alone reduces local pressure.
How much does mosquito control in Hatim cost?
It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Hatim.
