Cockroach control in Shaab Amer Al Jadid Makkah

Shaab Amer Al Jadid sits inside the Crown Prince 9A scheme in south Makkah, a district of residential grant plots where finished homes stand next to buildings still going up. That mix changes the job: construction rubble gives cockroaches shelter, empty and half-built units give them water, and from there they cross into the newly fitted kitchen next door. The work has to account for the site, not just the flat.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in Shaab Amer Al Jadid

In this district the first complaint often comes from a kitchen only months old, and the source turns out to be a second-hand appliance carried in, not any grime that had time to build up. The method is set out in full on how we approach Cockroach control.

The first reason

The building site next door

The blocks still going up around you keep rubble and drainage open to the air, so the American cockroach finds shelter and damp only metres from your door. That is why we do not stop at the walls of the flat: we trace the route it takes in from the site outside and close it.

The second reason

A new home furnished with carried-in things

Grant plots are fitted out from scratch, and the furniture and appliances often arrive second-hand from a previous home. The German cockroach hides in the folds of a fridge motor or a microwave and rides in with them, reaching a kitchen that has barely been lived in. We check what came in, not only what is on the counter.

The third reason

One flat lived in, the rest still empty

In a new block one flat is occupied while the next stays empty or unfinished. Cockroaches breed undisturbed in the quiet, vacant space and then travel along the shared drainage into the one flat that is lived in. Treating that flat alone achieves little if the empty units feeding it are left out, so we plan the treatment around the whole riser.

Before treatment

The species and the place decide the method

Open building sites across the scheme leave rubble, pools of standing water and drainage runs that are not yet fully sealed. That is exactly where the American cockroach breeds, and from those runs it works its way into the finished homes nearby.

A small light brown German cockroach

German cockroach

The German cockroach usually reaches Shaab Amer inside a used kitchen appliance moved into a new grant home, and settles wherever warmth and water sit close together.

A larger dark cockroach on a wooden surface

American cockroach

The American cockroach is the larger one, and here it comes in from the building sites and the open drainage around the block rather than from inside the kitchen itself.

An oven and gas hob beneath wooden shelving

Appliance heat

New appliances in a grant-home kitchen throw off heat at the back, and that warmth is what draws a cockroach to hide near the motor, away from the light.

A kitchen with a fridge; the gap behind it is a classic nest

The gap behind the fridge

A freshly fitted kitchen leaves a narrow, warm gap behind the fridge, and that is the first place we check because it is the favourite hiding spot in a new home.

A tap carrying water droplets

Water before food

Construction dust dries the air, so a cockroach hunts water before food: around the new tap, the kitchen drain and an air conditioner that has not run for long.

A dimly lit kitchen at night

What you see at night

If you see one cross your floor at night in a block that is still part empty, the nest is most likely in the vacant unit beside you rather than in your own flat.

How we work

  1. 1

    Inspect and identify

We work through the kitchen, the bathrooms and the drain runs, and establish the species, the harbourage points and the moisture keeping them there.

  2. 2

    Treat the harbourage

Gel bait into joints and cracks, targeted spray where it is warranted, and dust in the dry voids behind appliances.

  3. 3

    Close what can be closed

We point out the gaps, the drain entries and anything needing a plumber, because exclusion does more to stop a return than repeating the spray.

  4. 4

    The follow-up visit

We come back once the surviving egg cases have hatched, check the points and re-treat where needed.

What cockroach control includes

  • A technician inspecting with a flashlight

    A recorded inspection

Species, harbourage points and moisture sources, established before anything is applied.

  • A gloved hand applying bait into a joint

    Placed gel bait

In cabinet joints, cracks and behind appliances, where the insect actually travels.

  • A spray nozzle in close detail

    Targeted spray where needed

On runways and junctions, never on preparation surfaces or open floors.

  • A metal floor drain

    Drain and entry treatment

Floor traps, shafts and pipe entries, which is where the larger species comes from.

  • A clean kitchen counter after treatment

    Aftercare instructions

Ventilation, what to cover, and when surfaces can be cleaned without undoing the work.

  • The visit report being written on a clipboard

    A scheduled follow-up

A set date after the first treatment, and re-treatment of anything still active.

Questions about this district

My home is newly built, so where did cockroaches come from?

Being new does not keep them out. They arrive inside carried-in furniture, crawl over from a neighbouring building site, or climb up through new drainage that has not been tested yet. We work out which of these routes is open at your home and close it.

Is the building site next door causing this?

Often yes. A construction site collects damp, rubble and leftover food, which turns it into a factory for American cockroaches that spread at night into the finished homes nearby. We treat the points where they enter your home even when the source sits outside your wall.

I moved second-hand appliances in. Is that a risk?

Yes. A used fridge, washing machine or microwave is one of the commonest ways the German cockroach and its eggs reach a new home. Tell us what you brought in recently so we can check inside those appliances first, where a surface look would miss them.

The other flats in my block are still empty. Does that matter?

Yes. An empty or unfinished unit is a quiet place where cockroaches breed undisturbed, and from there they cross to you through the shared drainage. That is why we plan the treatment around the whole building rather than your flat on its own.

Does the building dust and rubble attract cockroaches?

The rubble gives them cracks to hide in, and the dust dries the air, which pushes them to hunt for the nearest water. Until the buildings around you are finished, it helps to keep debris away from your wall and to seal the cracks we find during the visit.

The drainage is brand new, so how did they get in?

A new pipe does not mean a sealed one. Kitchen and bathroom connections are sometimes left with a gap around the pipe before the finishing work is done, and that gap is a way up for the American cockroach. We check those joints and seal them as part of the treatment.

How much does cockroach control in Shaab Amer Al Jadid cost?

It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Shaab Amer Al Jadid.
