Cockroach control in Uhud Makkah

Uhud is a recently named residential plan north of Al-Rashidiyah, inside the Al-Sharai municipality on the eastern edge of Makkah. Most of its homes are new and its residents have only just moved in. So cockroaches here are rarely long established: they arrive with moved-in furniture and appliances, or climb from a new drainage network whose openings are not yet sealed. Those are two different sources, and each needs a different treatment.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in Uhud

In Uhud's new homes we tend to find the first cockroach near a floor drain in a bathroom that has barely been used yet, before it works its way through to the kitchen. The method is set out in full on our Cockroach control service.

The first reason

New homes, new residents

Because the housing is new and people have only just moved in, German cockroaches are seldom an old, settled colony. More often they came in inside a moving box or a second-hand fridge. So we start with the belongings and appliances that arrived most recently, before anything else.

The second reason

Drainage that is not yet sealed

In a new plan the drains are freshly connected, and many floor gullies and inspection chambers are not sealed yet. American cockroaches, the large ones, climb up through exactly these openings. That is why we treat the drains and the voids around the pipework, not just the surfaces you can see.

The third reason

Pressure coming from outside

The building sites and empty plots around you keep an outdoor source alive that pushes cockroaches towards your home every time the rubble is disturbed or the weather turns. So we make the follow-up visit close off what crosses in from outside, not only what is already in the kitchen.

Before treatment

The species and the place decide the method

The plan is still expanding. Finished homes sit beside empty plots and building sites, and whenever the disturbed ground or rubble is moved, American cockroaches are pushed off it and towards the nearest occupied house.

A small light brown German cockroach

German cockroach

The small German cockroach reaches your new home inside a box or a moved appliance, then settles in the kitchen close to a warm, damp source.

A larger dark cockroach on a wooden surface

American cockroach

The large American cockroach climbs up through the floor gullies and inspection chambers of the plan's new network, showing up in the bathroom and by the washbasin before the kitchen.

An oven and gas hob beneath wooden shelving

Appliance heat

The motor warmth of a fridge or oven in a new kitchen gives egg cases the heat to hatch quickly, so we check behind and underneath the appliances rather than the front.

A kitchen with a fridge; the gap behind it is a classic nest

The gap behind the fridge

In a newly fitted kitchen the narrow gap between the fridge and the wall stays warm and dark, and it is the first place cockroaches colonise before they spread.

A tap carrying water droplets

Water before food

In a home that is not fully set up yet, water is there before the food is, so cockroaches settle first around the moisture of the bathroom and kitchen, even before the cupboards are stocked.

A dimly lit kitchen at night

What you see at night

One cockroach on the kitchen wall at night in a new home means others are hidden in a void nearby. What you see is a sign, not the full count.

How we work

  1. 1

    Inspect and identify

We work through the kitchen, the bathrooms and the drain runs, and establish the species, the harbourage points and the moisture keeping them there.

  2. 2

    Treat the harbourage

Gel bait into joints and cracks, targeted spray where it is warranted, and dust in the dry voids behind appliances.

  3. 3

    Close what can be closed

We point out the gaps, the drain entries and anything needing a plumber, because exclusion does more to stop a return than repeating the spray.

  4. 4

    The follow-up visit

We come back once the surviving egg cases have hatched, check the points and re-treat where needed.

What cockroach control includes

  • A technician inspecting with a flashlight

    A recorded inspection

Species, harbourage points and moisture sources, established before anything is applied.

  • A gloved hand applying bait into a joint

    Placed gel bait

In cabinet joints, cracks and behind appliances, where the insect actually travels.

  • A spray nozzle in close detail

    Targeted spray where needed

On runways and junctions, never on preparation surfaces or open floors.

  • A metal floor drain

    Drain and entry treatment

Floor traps, shafts and pipe entries, which is where the larger species comes from.

  • A clean kitchen counter after treatment

    Aftercare instructions

Ventilation, what to cover, and when surfaces can be cleaned without undoing the work.

  • The visit report being written on a clipboard

    A scheduled follow-up

A set date after the first treatment, and re-treatment of anything still active.

Questions about this district

We only just moved in, why cockroaches already?

They most likely arrived with you rather than before you. German cockroaches travel inside boxes, appliances and moved furniture. We start with the things that came in most recently and with the kitchen, because that is the route they took into your new home.

There is still building work next door, does it matter?

Yes. The disturbed ground and rubble on the site next door drive American cockroaches towards the nearest occupied home. We cannot switch off an outdoor source, but we can seal the entry points and treat the perimeter, and set a follow-up visit that allows for that constant pressure.

The plumbing is new, can they still come from the drains?

Yes, new pipes do not mean sealed ones. Many floor gullies and chambers in the plan are still open, and the American cockroach climbs up through those gaps. We treat the drains and ask that any unused openings be capped so the route is closed.

We brought a second-hand fridge when we moved, should it be checked?

Yes. Second-hand appliances are one of the commonest ways German cockroaches get in; the eggs hide in the motor's warmth, in the hinges and in the tray at the back. We check the appliance from behind and underneath and treat it before what is inside spreads to the rest of the kitchen.

We live in a new apartment block, do they move between flats?

They can. In newer blocks the waste pipes and cable runs pass between flats, and cockroaches travel along them. We treat your flat and seal its internal openings, and if the neighbour above or below you shows the same signs, we advise treating at the same time.

We still have unopened moving boxes, do they matter?

Very much so. Stacked cardboard offers warmth, darkness and paper, which makes it an ideal hiding place for the German cockroach and its eggs after a move. We advise unpacking and getting rid of the boxes early, and we focus the inspection on the corners where they were stored.

How much does cockroach control in Uhud cost?

It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Uhud.
