Al Hajun has stone foundations built decades ago with very deep gaps between the blocks. Fleas hide in these voids in the depths of the house where a vacuum cannot reach. Treatment requires a residual pesticide that penetrates deep cracks and remains effective for weeks inside them.

We confirm it is fleas rather than another biting insect, and fix the animal's sleeping points, its routes and the shaded ground outside. Where there is no animal in the house, we look for the host they came from.

A residual with an insect growth regulator, worked into the carpet base, the floor and wall junction and the edges under furniture. The regulator stops a larva becoming an adult, which is what breaks the cycle.

The host and the shade outside

We treat the shaded ground and the outdoor lying spots, and we agree with you that the animal's veterinary treatment happens on the same day, because any host left out of the job re-seeds the floor.

Vacuuming, then the follow-up visit

Repeated vacuuming vibrates the floor and draws the pupae out onto a treated surface. We come back about two weeks later to take the emerged generation before it lays.

Why do fleas keep coming back in my old house?

The deep voids in old stone footings are perfect shelter for fleas. The pesticide may kill fleas in carpets and furniture, but in the depths of the cracks they remain safe. We use a residual that stays effective for weeks within those voids.

Do stray animals in the lane infect my house with fleas?

Very much so. Stray dogs and cats that shelter in gaps near the house can leave fleas on the doorstep or in the gaps between stones. Treating the area outside the building is essential in this district.

How do I clean the old house after treatment without disrupting the pesticide?

Wait two days before thorough cleaning. Carpets and furniture may be wiped with a dry cloth or one damp with plain water. Do not use strong disinfectants or perfumed cleaners for a week.

The cracks in the old walls are very numerous. Do you treat them all?

Yes. We focus on the larger cracks and the voids under furniture bases and in dark corners. Very fine cracks in the stonework we treat with a pesticide that penetrates them. We do not seal the cracks, we treat what is in them.

Is treating the narrow lane outside the house necessary?

If the lane is public, we do not treat it. But the tight gaps between your house and the neighbour's, and the corners near the door, we handle carefully as part of the external boundary.

When should I expect flea bites to stop in an old house?

New bites may continue for a day or two after treatment. Fleas remaining deep in the voids may emerge on the second and third day. The second visit in the third week addresses the newly emerged generation.
