Flea control in Bayah Makkah

Bayah is the easternmost district of the sub municipality behind Al Mughammas, a recently renamed scheme with broad ground around Wadi Al Sharai between Jabal Qardah and the hamlets of Al Mazr and Al Shubah. Residential plots are on sale with very little building yet and small farms along the wadi banks. Fleas here live on stray and pastoral animals, and the handful of new homes are spread across vast vacant plots.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in Bayah

Wide plots for sale with no fences harbour unlimited natural feral flea shelters, and the rare homes scattered in this immense void draw fleas from every direction. The method is set out in full on how we approach Flea control.

The first reason

Wadi Al Sharai and vast vacant plots are an endless flea source

Wadi Al Sharai in the heart of Bayah gathers unlimited stray and wild animals. The vast unmarked plots for sale with no fences offer comfort to countless strays. Every new home built in the middle of these oceans of empty ground becomes a flea magnet from all directions.

The second reason

Immense distances between rare homes prevent coordinated control

The few new homes in Bayah are very far apart, sometimes hundreds of metres from each other. Each home is isolated in vacant ground surrounded by strays and feral fleas. Coordinating treatment with a neighbour who may be a long way off is practically impossible.

The third reason

The hamlets of Al Mazr and Al Shubah are close feral flea sources

Al Mazr and Al Shubah hamlets near Bayah hold livestock, strays and feral fleas. Animals move between the hamlets and Bayah carrying fleas. Hamlet residents visit the new homes and carry fleas on their clothes.

Bayah on the map

Bayah sits about 3.5 km from Hatim and about 4.5 km from Mughammas.

The resting places map the infestation

Bayah is a vast tract of land around Wadi Al Sharai, a newly renamed scheme with land for sale and very little actual building, and natural ravines around the wadi.

A close view of dense carpet pile

The base of the carpet

Carpet in the new home is surrounded by vast empty plots, and fleas climb from the soil below the foundation.

An empty pet bed on a room floor

Where the animal sleeps

Any family pet sleeps on the outer carpet beside doors and windows opening onto empty ground.

A fine toothed comb on a white towel

Flea dirt

Flea dirt shows on the carpet constantly because pressure from the empty land never stops.

The underside edge of a fabric sofa

Furniture edges and upholstery

Sofa edges and upholstered pieces trap very many fleas because the home is surrounded by an unlimited source.

Gaps between wooden floor boards

Joints in a hard floor

Floor joints around external doors are constant gateways for fleas from the soil below.

Damp shaded soil beneath shrubs

Damp shade outdoors

Damp shade outside the home in every direction collects feral fleas from the vacant plots and the nearby wadi.

How we work

  1. 1

    Inspect and confirm

We confirm it is fleas rather than another biting insect, and fix the animal's sleeping points, its routes and the shaded ground outside. Where there is no animal in the house, we look for the host they came from.

  2. 2

Treat the floors and soft furnishings

A residual with an insect growth regulator, worked into the carpet base, the floor and wall junction and the edges under furniture. The regulator stops a larva becoming an adult, which is what breaks the cycle.

  3. 3

The host and the shade outside

We treat the shaded ground and the outdoor lying spots, and we agree with you that the animal's veterinary treatment happens on the same day, because any host left out of the job re-seeds the floor.

  4. 4

    Vacuuming, then the follow-up visit

Repeated vacuuming vibrates the floor and draws the pupae out onto a treated surface. We come back about two weeks later to take the emerged generation before it lays.

What flea control includes

  • A technician inspecting with a flashlight

    Confirmation before anything is applied

Telling a flea bite from the alternatives, and fixing the resting places and the centre of the infestation.

  • A spray nozzle in close detail

Carpet base and floor line treatment

A residual and a growth regulator worked down into the pile and under furniture edges, not laid across the visible surface.

  • A metal floor drain

    Shade and damp outdoors

The shaded patches by entrances and around drains and taps, the only ground outside where larvae survive.

  • A gloved hand applying bait into a joint

The source when there is no pet

Stray cats sheltering under an outside stair, or rodents in the voids, each handled on a different footing.

  • A clean kitchen counter after treatment

    The vacuum schedule and aftercare

When to vacuum, how to empty the machine, and why the carpet is not steam cleaned afterwards. Ventilation time we give you on the call, because it changes with the product and the space.

  • The visit report being written on a clipboard

    A follow-up timed to emergence

A date about two weeks on, timed to the pupae leaving the cocoons, and re-treatment of any room where fresh bites are still starting.

The character of Bayah

New development: ongoing construction and vacant plots between the homes

A newly developed scheme means the home sits alone in vast empty plots, and internal treatment alone is never enough because the external flea source never stops. External treatment of the foundation and surrounding ground is as essential as treating inside the home.

Questions about this district

The new home sits in vast empty plots. Will it definitely catch fleas from the soil beneath?

Almost certainly yes. The immense vacant ground around your home shelters unlimited feral fleas. New fleas will climb from the soil below the fresh foundation.

Wadi Al Sharai is nearby. Does it carry new fleas with every rainfall?

Yes, every flood brings fleas down the wadi. Water raises soil moisture around your home, and this drives feral fleas up from the base.

The hamlets of Al Mazr and Al Shubah are close. Do their animals and residents carry fleas?

Absolutely. Hamlet animals may drink from the same wadi and carry fleas. Hamlet residents visit the new homes carrying fleas on their clothes.

A new home next to an old one or occupied one, is the new one protected or exposed?

It is exposed completely. Vacant ground around the new home is a greater source than any neighbouring home. The new home may catch fleas faster because it sits alone in feral fleas.

Will fencing the land around the home stop fleas climbing from below?

Fencing without treatment does not stop fleas rising from below the ground. Fencing only slows stray animals. Foundation and soil treatment is necessary in addition to a fence.

How often per year does a newly developed area like Bayah need preventive treatment?

Monthly treatment is necessary at first, then every two months after the ground settles. In reality, the feral fleas around Bayah mean continuous regular treatment for the long term.

How much does flea control in Bayah cost?

It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Bayah.
