Flea control in Hatim Makkah
Hatim is farmland and unbuilt schemes at the far eastern end of Al Sharai on both sides of the Makkah to Taif expressway, with orchards and fields, the hamlet of Al Hamidah, Wadi Al Sharai and Jabal Laban rising to the east, and widely scattered rural houses. Fleas here live on agricultural and domestic animals and wild beasts, and their life cycle tracks the seasons of grazing, irrigation and harvest.

Why they keep coming back in Hatim
The farms and orchards provide permanent damp shelter under irrigation and shade, and the animals that guard the farms or graze around the houses carry fleas. The method is set out in full on what Flea control involves.
Irrigated farms and orchards are permanent wet flea shelters year round
The watered farms and groves around Hatim provide dampness, warmth and perpetual shade. Feral fleas live in this damp world under trees and palms. The animal guarding an orchard or drinking from a spring carries fleas into the farmer's home. Constant irrigation speeds flea maturation and extends survival even through the dry season.
Wadi Al Sharai carries massive seasonal flea floods
When Wadi Al Sharai flows it carries water down from high ground, bringing wild animals and fleas. The flood raises soil moisture around houses for weeks. After each rain the wadi flows again, carrying new fleas down from Jabal Laban and higher land.
Multiple water sources and irrigation create ideal flea conditions
Springs, wells, channel-fed irrigation and hand-drawn water all provide constant moisture and constant food, because animals come to drink. Fleas live at ease on water-dependent animals and livestock, then enter the houses near these water sources.
Hatim on the map
Hatim sits about 2 km from Thaniyah and about 3 km from Barakah.
Open in Google MapsThe resting places map the infestation
Hatim is an open agricultural hilly area with farms and palm groves, springs and wells, houses spread among cultivated plots, and Wadi Al Sharai running through the region.
The base of the carpet
Carpet in the agricultural home stays continuously damp from irrigation water and the nearby orchard, and fleas burrow deep into the pile.
Where the animal sleeps
Animals guarding the orchard or livestock sleep around the house or on the outer carpet.
Flea dirt
Flea dirt appears heavily on the carpet and furniture because constant moisture extends flea life cycles.
Furniture edges and upholstery
Sofa edges and upholstered pieces trap very many fleas because moisture around the home gets trapped there.
Joints in a hard floor
Floor joints around external doors and windows hold fleas because irrigation moisture sends damp through them.
Damp shade outdoors
Damp shade outside the home where the orchard and irrigation are located collects abundant feral fleas from water and grass.
How we work
-
1
Inspect and confirm
We confirm it is fleas rather than another biting insect, and fix the animal's sleeping points, its routes and the shaded ground outside. Where there is no animal in the house, we look for the host they came from.
-
2
Treat the floors and soft furnishings
A residual with an insect growth regulator, worked into the carpet base, the floor and wall junction and the edges under furniture. The regulator stops a larva becoming an adult, which is what breaks the cycle.
-
3
The host and the shade outside
We treat the shaded ground and the outdoor lying spots, and we agree with you that the animal's veterinary treatment happens on the same day, because any host left out of the job re-seeds the floor.
-
4
Vacuuming, then the follow-up visit
Repeated vacuuming vibrates the floor and draws the pupae out onto a treated surface. We come back about two weeks later to take the emerged generation before it lays.
What flea control includes
-
Confirmation before anything is applied
Telling a flea bite from the alternatives, and fixing the resting places and the centre of the infestation.
-
Carpet base and floor line treatment
A residual and a growth regulator worked down into the pile and under furniture edges, not laid across the visible surface.
-
Shade and damp outdoors
The shaded patches by entrances and around drains and taps, the only ground outside where larvae survive.
-
The source when there is no pet
Stray cats sheltering under an outside stair, or rodents in the voids, each handled on a different footing.
-
The vacuum schedule and aftercare
When to vacuum, how to empty the machine, and why the carpet is not steam cleaned afterwards. Ventilation time we give you on the call, because it changes with the product and the space.
-
A follow-up timed to emergence
A date about two weeks on, timed to the pupae leaving the cocoons, and re-treatment of any room where fresh bites are still starting.
What is different about Al Sharai Sub-Municipality
Al Sharai is the eastern growth front of Makkah along King Faisal Road and the Taif road. Settled quarters sit beside recently renamed schemes where plots are still vacant and buildings are going up, so construction sites, fill and open excavations lie next to occupied homes. Wadi channels such as Wadi Mudarraja, Wadi Al Sharai and Wadi Al Mughammas carry flash floods after rain and dry out to damp silt, while dust blows off the open hills. Roadside shops, restaurants and warehouses line the Taif road, and to the east the area shades into villages, palm farms and springs.
Questions about this district
The watered orchard around our rural home, does it harbour feral fleas?
Yes, certainly. Irrigation, shade and moisture create ideal conditions for feral fleas. An animal drinking the irrigation water may carry many fleas into the home.
Wadi Al Sharai runs very close. Do the seasonal floods carry fleas?
Yes, seasonal floods carry fleas down from the highlands. Water raises soil moisture around the home for weeks after the flood, and this multiplies flea numbers.
Jabal Laban is to the east. Do wild animals coming down from the mountain bring fleas to the orchards?
Certainly. Wild animals come down for water and green grass in Hatim. They may meet your livestock and spread fleas, or enter the orchard directly.
Is treating the home enough or must we treat the orchard and surrounding land?
Complete treatment of the home and the land and orchards is necessary. The farms are a continuous flea source that never stops.
The nearby hamlet of Al Hamidah. Do their animals bring fleas to our home?
Very possibly. Hamlet animals may mingle with yours or drink from the same spring. Hamlet residents may visit you carrying fleas on their clothes.
How often per year does a farming area like Hatim need preventive treatment?
Monthly treatment is necessary during the grazing and irrigation season (spring and summer), then every two months during the dry season. Farms and constant moisture mean unrelenting flea pressure.
How much does flea control in Hatim cost?
It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Hatim.
