Fly control in Al Ruwais Jeddah

Al Ruwais is an old established district west of Madinah Road near the Corniche, where aged apartment blocks stand beside newly built buildings. Hail Street is very active with restaurants, shops and hotels. Flies here are a permanent problem: old buildings are full of cracks and voids, and the aged building stock means drainage installed decades ago cannot carry waste efficiently or stop breeding.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in Al Ruwais

Proximity to the Corniche and sea raises humidity year round, and old apartment buildings along Hail Street contain drainage systems installed decades ago. The method is set out in full on Fly control in detail.

The first reason

Aged buildings contain countless natural voids and cracks

Older apartment blocks in Al Ruwais have natural gaps in walls, foundations and pipes that provide perfect fly shelter, many impossible to reach or treat directly.

The second reason

Hail Street holds dense concentration of restaurants

Hail Street's main commercial strip holds dozens of restaurants, shops and hotels producing heavy oily food waste, and old drainage allows flies to accumulate and breed freely.

The third reason

Sea humidity sustains year round fly populations

Proximity to the Corniche makes air very damp, extending fly lifecycles and allowing breeding to continue uninterrupted even during cooler months.

The bin base

Refuse bin bases in shops and blocks on Hail Street are very damp from sea humidity and restaurant operations, allowing fly breeding.

The film inside a drain

Films inside old restaurant and building drains are extremely thick, providing perfect shelter for millions of developing larvae.

Service doors and mesh screens in old buildings are often loose or broken, allowing easy fly movement between buildings.

How we work

  1. 1

    Inspect and trace the source

We trace the flies back to their medium: waste and the bin area, floor traps, drain runs and any standing organic wetness, and we identify the species from its size, its flight and where it settles.

  2. 2

    Treat the breeding medium

Washing and scouring bin bases and floor traps, and a foam that treats the film inside the pipe, because removing the medium is the only thing that stops production.

  3. 3

    Treat the resting surfaces

A fly spends most of its time settled on ceilings, cables, the tops of walls and the sunlit wall outside the door, and that is where the residual and the bait go, not into the air.

  4. 4

    Proofing and the follow-up

We close the ways in and sort out the screens and the doors, then come back on a date matching the emergence of the pupae that were already in the medium on the first visit.

What fly control includes

  • A technician inspecting with a flashlight

    A source tracing inspection

The species, the breeding medium and the route in, established before anything is applied.

  • A metal floor drain

    Drains and floor traps

Scouring the film stuck inside the pipe and treating it with foam, which is where drain flies come from and almost nowhere else.

  • A spray nozzle in close detail

    Residual on the resting surfaces

Ceilings, cables, the tops of walls and the sunlit wall outside the door, kept off food preparation surfaces.

  • A gloved hand applying bait into a joint

    Fly bait in protected positions

An attractant bait set at bin areas and service entrances, out of reach of children and pets and away from food.

  • A clean kitchen counter after treatment

    Aftercare instructions

Ventilation, what to cover, and what needs a screen, an air curtain or a different waste routine.

  • The visit report being written on a clipboard

    A scheduled follow-up

A set date matching the emergence of the pupae, and re-treatment of any source still producing.

What is different about Al Sharafiyah Sub-Municipality

The Al Sharafiyah sub municipality runs across central Jeddah from Al Ruwais near the Corniche eastwards through Al Sharafiyah, Al Wurud and Bani Malik to Al Naseem at the Haramain Road. It was among the first areas to grow beyond the old wall, and it is dominated by dense apartment blocks over shops along King Fahd Road and Palestine Street, with old popular quarters, the Bani Malik market, car workshops and storerooms. Ageing buildings, worn drainage and the refuse of restaurants and markets make cockroaches and rodents the most persistent pests, and humidity rises towards the sea.

Questions about this district

Does proximity to the Corniche increase fly problems in Al Ruwais?

Yes significantly. High sea humidity keeps buildings damp year round, providing permanent breeding habitat that allows flies to thrive.

Is Hail Street alone responsible for flies across the whole district?

Largely yes. Hail Street holds most shops and restaurants, and flies spread from there into the residential apartment blocks.

Why is it so hard to eliminate flies from the aged apartment blocks?

Natural gaps in walls and foundations provide unreachable shelter. Surface treatment alone cannot eliminate flies hiding in these voids.

Does redevelopment of old quarters reduce the fly problem?

Yes, long term. When old buildings are demolished and replaced, the problem decreases. But during construction fly populations often spike.

How often must Al Ruwais be treated per year?

Every six to eight weeks year round. Sea humidity allows continuous breeding cycles.

Are the International Medical Center and hotels additional fly sources?

Yes but limited. Restaurants and shops on Hail Street are the main sources.

How much does fly control in Al Ruwais cost?

It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach Al Ruwais.
