Fly control in South Prince Fawaz Jeddah

South Prince Fawaz is a densely built residential spread near Makkah Road, cut through by a large open stormwater drain. Apartment buildings and villas sit either side of it, and the stagnant water and silt inside provide permanent fly nursery. The open channel here is a real problem, and flies walk from the channel into homes and shops easily because the distance is short.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in South Prince Fawaz

The open channel several metres wide carries slow flowing water, silt builds up inside it and it becomes a breeding ground for blow flies year round. The method is set out in full on what Fly control involves.

The first reason

The large open stormwater channel

A stormwater drain crosses the district from north to south, several metres wide with slow flowing water. Silt and waste accumulate inside, and high moisture provides ideal conditions for blow flies. Flies live in this channel and walk to neighbouring homes.

The second reason

Villas and buildings sitting right next to the channel

Some villas and apartments sit very close to the channel, and water and odours rise to homes from yards or adjacent streets. Flies enter homes through windows and doors facing the channel directly.

The third reason

New layout with damp ground floors

The layout is relatively new and underground drainage is either still being built or aging. Damp ground floors provide extra breeding ground. Moisture from the channel and shared drainage gives continuous breeding conditions.

Where the flies are actually coming from

Relatively new residential zone near Makkah Road and Haramain Road, apartment buildings and villas closely packed, a large open stormwater channel running through the district.

A house fly on a window pane

House fly

The house fly breeds in stagnant water and silt inside the channel, and rests on home walls and nearby yards.

A metallic green fly on a wooden surface

Blow fly

The blow fly lives in the open channel, feeds on waste, and enters homes when seeking dry shelter.

Over-ripe fruit in a wooden bowl

Fermenting residue

Waste from homes reaches the channel and accumulates, and slow water flow allows continuous fly breeding.

Waste bins standing on concrete

The bin base

Water in the channel flows slowly because gradient is shallow, and silt and moisture provide permanent breeding ground.

A floor drain grate set in tiling

The film inside a drain

Biofilm develops quickly in the channel because water flow is slow and waste is heavy, and flies live inside the biofilm.

A metal service door on a building exterior

The service door and its mesh

Windows and doors facing the channel provide direct fly entry, and front yards beside the channel offer shelter.

How we work

  1. 1

    Inspect and trace the source

We trace the flies back to their medium: waste and the bin area, floor traps, drain runs and any standing organic wetness, and we identify the species from its size, its flight and where it settles.

  2. 2

    Treat the breeding medium

Washing and scouring bin bases and floor traps, and a foam that treats the film inside the pipe, because removing the medium is the only thing that stops production.

  3. 3

    Treat the resting surfaces

A fly spends most of its time settled on ceilings, cables, the tops of walls and the sunlit wall outside the door, and that is where the residual and the bait go, not into the air.

  4. 4

    Proofing and the follow-up

We close the ways in and sort out the screens and the doors, then come back on a date matching the emergence of the pupae that were already in the medium on the first visit.

What fly control includes

  • A technician inspecting with a flashlight

    A source tracing inspection

The species, the breeding medium and the route in, established before anything is applied.

  • A metal floor drain

    Drains and floor traps

Scouring the film stuck inside the pipe and treating it with foam, which is where drain flies come from and almost nowhere else.

  • A spray nozzle in close detail

    Residual on the resting surfaces

Ceilings, cables, the tops of walls and the sunlit wall outside the door, kept off food preparation surfaces.

  • A gloved hand applying bait into a joint

    Fly bait in protected positions

An attractant bait set at bin areas and service entrances, out of reach of children and pets and away from food.

  • A clean kitchen counter after treatment

    Aftercare instructions

Ventilation, what to cover, and what needs a screen, an air curtain or a different waste routine.

  • The visit report being written on a clipboard

    A scheduled follow-up

A set date matching the emergence of the pupae, and re-treatment of any source still producing.

What is different about South Sub-Municipality

The South sub municipality runs from the edge of Old Makkah Road down to Al Khumrah and the southern corniche. Dense residential districts sit beside new subdivisions such as Al Sanabil and Al Taawun, warehouse fringes such as Al Saruriyah and Al Sarawat, and an old seaside settlement at Al Quzayn. Open stormwater channels cross the housing, and the warehouses, the vegetable and livestock markets and the nearby Islamic Port and Industrial City give pests shelter, food and year round humidity. Pressure is greatest in the older quarters, where drainage networks are ageing.

Questions about this district

Is the open channel the main fly problem?

Yes, the channel is the primary source. Silt, stagnant water and moisture provide ideal breeding. Treating the channel alone may cut the problem greatly.

Can the channel be treated without treating homes?

Channel treatment is essential. But flies may enter homes from the street even after channel treatment. Treating both channel and homes stops the problem better.

Do villas far from the channel need treatment?

Yes, because flies move from the channel via the street and air. Distant villas face less pressure but are not protected from flies.

When is fly pressure worst in South Prince Fawaz?

Right after rain when channel water rises, and in humid seasons (spring and autumn). Dry summer reduces the problem slightly.

Is one channel treatment enough?

No, because the channel flows continuously and collects new waste every day. Treatment needs repeating, especially after rain.

Is closing or covering the channel a solution?

Yes, covering or closing the channel is a long term solution. But until it is covered, chemical control is necessary.

How much does fly control in South Prince Fawaz cost?

It is set after the inspection, because the price follows the type of infestation, the size of the space, how far it has spread and the number of visits it needs. Send a photo and a description on WhatsApp and we will give you an estimate before we reach South Prince Fawaz.
