Inspect at night and find the source

We come at the hour it is actually moving, and establish which wall face it is living on, which lights are gathering its food, the entry points and the crevices it wedges into by day.

Treat the food source

We treat the flying and crawling insects on the wall faces, around the perimeter and around the lighting. Once the food goes, the wall stops being worth staying on.

Close the openings and clear the crevices

We seal the air-conditioner sleeve, screen the vents and drain outlets, deal with the underside of doors, and place a repellent in the crevices and behind panels so they move out before anything is closed.

The follow-up visit

We come back once the glued eggs have hatched, check the seals held, and re-treat any wall face where activity has returned.

Are newly built incompletely finished villas far more exposed to geckos than complete ones?

Very much so. Unfinished villas provide large open voids and easy entry, missing windows and empty doorways allow geckos to move freely. A completed building that has been inspected and sealed is considerably safer.

Is it better to treat the site before construction, during or after completion?

Ideally treat the site before building begins if feasible, then treat the building during construction before it closes, and finally treat the completed building before occupation. Each phase needs a different approach.

Is treating the entire scheme better than treating a single building?

Treating the whole scheme cuts off gecko supply at source, but may be impractical if excavation is ongoing. Treating each building before occupation may be a more practical and cost effective strategy.

Does high moisture from excavation and fill works speed up gecko infestation?

Yes, high moisture attracts insect species in variety, which draws geckos rapidly. Once excavation finishes and ground dries, pressure may ease slightly, but geckos already in buildings may have already established themselves.

How many times should a new building be treated before residents move in?

Usually at least twice: first before final windows and doors install to clear insects and geckos that have entered, and second just before occupation. Additional treatment may be needed if completion to occupation spans weeks.
