The first reason

The sports stadium is a massive insect source

Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium is surrounded by playing fields, gardens and strong night lighting. The lights and green spaces attract millions of small insects and moths. These migrate from the stadium towards nearby shops and villas. Homes beside the stadium receive continuous gecko arrivals.

The second reason

Shops and restaurants provide food year round

Taibah Mosque and the commercial shops and restaurants near the stadium provide constant food. Restaurant refrigerators, goods and waste attract large insect populations. Geckos arrive at shops at night and climb to flats above. Treating the shop alone will not stop them as long as the flat above contains food.

The third reason

The two main roads supply continuous traffic and insects

Old Makkah Road and Stadium Road carry heavy traffic and night lighting. This means constant insects. Geckos are attracted to these lights from considerable distances. Homes on these roads will need more frequent retreatment.

Madain Al Fahd is mixed, meaning geckos arrive from multiple sources: the stadium, shops, restaurants and neighbouring villas. Treating a single villa or one shop will not stop them. Coordination among residents and traders for collective treatment is necessary.

How we work

Inspect at night and find the source

We come at the hour it is actually moving, and establish which wall face it is living on, which lights are gathering its food, the entry points and the crevices it wedges into by day.

Treat the food source

We treat the flying and crawling insects on the wall faces, around the perimeter and around the lighting. Once the food goes, the wall stops being worth staying on.

Close the openings and clear the crevices

We seal the air-conditioner sleeve, screen the vents and drain outlets, deal with the underside of doors, and place a repellent in the crevices and behind panels so they move out before anything is closed.

The follow-up visit

We come back once the glued eggs have hatched, check the seals held, and re-treat any wall face where activity has returned.

Questions about this district

Does a stadium next to the district mean permanent infestation?

The stadium creates ideal insect conditions. Treatment removes current residents and a second visit two weeks later kills new eggs. Intensive defensive treatment around villa walls stops migrant arrivals from the stadium.

Will treating a flat above a shop stop geckos if neighbouring shops are treated?

Treating the shop and flat together removes current residents. But other neighbouring shops may be untreated, and geckos may move between them. Treating a group of shops and flats together is better than treating one alone.

Are villas further from the stadium more protected?

Yes. Villas further from the stadium receive fewer geckos because the insect source is distant. But shops and restaurants in the district provide food, so the entire area has relatively high gecko pressure.

Does a nearby mosque increase the problem?

Taibah Mosque may have small gardens around it. These provide moisture and insects if irrigation is regular. But the mosque itself is not residential. Real pressure comes from the stadium and shops.

When will we need a second treatment in Madain Al Fahd?

First treatment removes current residents. Second treatment two weeks later is necessary when eggs hatch. After that, retreatment every three weeks in warm seasons and monthly in winter.

Is treating a single villa in a cluster worth doing?
