Mosquito control in Al Shamiyah Al Jadid Makkah

Al Shamiyah Al Jadid is Crown Prince scheme one on the Al Laith road, the westernmost of Makkah's new districts out by the Fifth Ring Road at the Haram boundary. New villas and apartment buildings stand on wide streets with a planned commercial and leisure centre, gardens, and vacant land all around. Construction is ongoing. Dig sites, building water, new garden irrigation and the varied ground levels create a complex environment for mosquitoes.

  • Targeted, not broadcast

Product goes into cracks and runways, never sprayed across open surfaces.

  • Told before we start

What we will use, where it goes, and what to cover or move before we arrive.

  • A follow-up visit

We return after the first treatment, because what survives it does not show on the day.

  • Homes and businesses

Apartments and villas, and kitchens and stores that need a record of each visit.

Why they keep coming back in Al Shamiyah Al Jadid

Vacant land and active building sites and new gardens supply varied standing water. Modern drainage may not yet be complete everywhere. The method is set out in full on our Mosquito control service.

The first reason

Vacant land and dig sites collect rainwater and building water

Al Shamiyah Al Jadid has much vacant land and digging and building going on. Rainwater collects in low spots and open pits. Building water, mixing water, digging and levelling water leaves standing pools in many places. These open areas are a very complex new environment.

The second reason

New gardens and regular irrigation provide constant water

The scheme has new public gardens and green spaces between homes. Regular watering and taps leave standing water in low spots and gaps. New gardens and modern irrigation may create breeding environments because standing water and shade are present.

The third reason

Modern villas and flats have air conditioners, bathrooms and kitchens that produce water

The villas and flats are modern with new systems but air conditioner water and bathroom and kitchen water drips onto flooring and private gardens. Vacant land next to each villa may collect conditioner discharge. Modern drainage may not yet be complete everywhere.

How we work

  1. 1

    Inspect and map the water

We walk the perimeter, the roof, the garden, the meter chambers and the condensate runs, record everything that holds water, and read the species from the breeding site and the time of biting.

  2. 2

Remove the water that can go

Empty, invert, cover: saucers, containers, old tyres and roof gullies. Every point that disappears is a treatment that never needs repeating.

  3. 3

Larval treatment, then the resting surfaces

Water that cannot be drained is treated so the larva never completes, then a residual goes under planting, beneath outdoor furniture and along low shaded walls.

  4. 4

    The follow-up visit

We come back once the generation that was in the water on the first visit has completed, review every point we recorded and re-treat where needed.

The character of Al Shamiyah Al Jadid

New development: ongoing construction and vacant plots between the homes

A newly developing scheme means ongoing construction, vacant plots and new gardens that supply varied standing water. Treatment focuses on open dig sites, vacant land and new gardens, because dark spaces and regular irrigation create a breeding environment.

Questions about this district

Our villa is new and everything is clean. Why is there a mosquito?

New villas in a new scheme may have vacant land and digging nearby. Garden watering and spaces may collect water beside the villa. Air conditioner discharge may not be routed away from gaps. Cleanliness alone does not protect if standing water collects around the villa.

The garden in the new flat is watered regularly. Does that attract mosquitoes?

Yes. Regular watering and shade from new plants create ideal conditions. Standing water in garden pits and irrigation drainage may not evaporate quickly. Make sure water drains well away from dark spaces.

There is vacant land next to our villa and digging is close. Does that cause mosquito problems?

Yes. Vacant land and digging are direct sources. Rainwater and building water collect in these places. We need to agree with the contractor to drain water and cover open pits.

Construction nearby leaves water and mud. Do we need special treatment?

Construction is temporary but treatment during building must cover the area around the site. After construction ends treatment focuses on new gardens and gaps.

Drainage in the new scheme is modern but may not be complete everywhere. Does that increase mosquitoes?

Yes. Incomplete drainage means water may not flow easily. Low spots and gaps may hold water. Make sure drainage is complete and carries water away from homes.

In spring new plants grow and gardens get thicker. Does that increase mosquitoes?

Yes. Dense plants and frequent watering provide constant shade and water. Treatment before growth season helps. Make sure irrigation water does not pool in dark gaps.
