Sprinkler or drip systems leave pools of standing water around each plant base. Sandy soil does not absorb all the flow, so small pools form beneath vegetation, creating persistent damp soil that never dries.

Salt laden air prevents natural drying

Sea air carries moisture and salt that slow evaporation, making standing water persist even in heat. Chalets next to the water collect pools in courtyards from humid air alone, not just from irrigation.

The third reason

Shallow bay waters provide natural secondary breeding sources

The bay itself sits close to the buildings, and standing water in the shallows near the shore creates natural breeding habitat. Salt suppresses most insects but not this mosquito species.

We walk the perimeter, the roof, the garden, the meter chambers and the condensate runs, record everything that holds water, and read the species from the breeding site and the time of biting.

Remove the water that can go

Empty, invert, cover: saucers, containers, old tyres and roof gullies. Every point that disappears is a treatment that never needs repeating.

Larval treatment, then the resting surfaces

Water that cannot be drained is treated so the larva never completes, then a residual goes under planting, beneath outdoor furniture and along low shaded walls.

The follow-up visit

We come back once the generation that was in the water on the first visit has completed, review every point we recorded and re-treat where needed.

Questions about this district

Is the bay water itself a mosquito source?

Salt water does not suit most mosquito species, but standing water in the shallows close to shore, where fresh water mixes with salt, is a real source. We focus on those shallow spots near each chalet.

Can a garden irrigated with treated water alone feed the whole population?

Yes, treated fresh water irrigation creates perfect habitat. Mosquitoes find water beneath plant leaves and in the grass, away from salt and drying.

Why is the mosquito problem worse in chalets left empty for long spells?

Abandoned chalets stay irrigated or damp without disturbance. Mosquitoes find water, shade and calm, so they breed through generations without interruption.

Are decorative fountains and small garden ponds a real source?

Yes, especially if the pump is idle or poorly maintained. Stagnant water in a small pond or in a badly placed fountain creates perfect breeding conditions.

Is treating the garden alone enough, or must we treat inside the chalet too?

We treat both. Outdoor treatment removes water sources and flying mosquitoes, and indoor treatment reaches any that have slipped inside.

What is the difference between a chalet right on the shore and one set back from the water?

The beachfront chalet gets full sea humidity, but salt water reduces mosquito numbers. A chalet set back slightly, where fresh irrigation water collects with salty air, may be worse because it holds both.
