Dust into the wall joints and the dry voids, and a targeted band tight against the foundation and around openings, because the material holds longer on a porous surface than on tile.

Close the ways in and remove the prey

A sweep under the doors, sealing where air-conditioning and drain pipes pass through, mesh over openings, and treatment of the cockroaches and insects it feeds on, so the reason to come in goes with them.

The follow-up visit

A scorpion can sit in its harbourage for weeks without moving, so the first pass does not always reach it. We come back to refresh the perimeter band and check what has appeared since.

Al Misfalah sub municipality runs downhill from the south of the Grand Mosque through Al Misfalah, Kudai and Al Rawabi to Al Taqwa, Al Hindawiyah, Al Khalidiyah and Al Rusayfah at the third ring road. The northern end is old apartment blocks and pilgrim hotels with restaurants along Ibrahim Al Khalil Street and the huge coach parks at Kudai. The south and west are dense popular districts with countless small shops and unplanned hillside housing, some of it already cleared for redevelopment, giving way to orderly land grant schemes in Al Rusayfah beside the railway station.

Questions about this district

If I treat only my flat, will scorpions stop coming from the shop below?

No. If the shop remains untreated, scorpions will simply climb through shared floor voids or common drainage pipes. Treating shop and flat together and sealing the gaps between them is the only way to stop scorpions moving between the two spaces.

Why do scorpions come from the small public gardens nearby?

Gardens provide food, water and shade. Scorpions travel from them into nearby buildings. Clearing dense plants and rubble from gardens helps, but external treatment of the building itself is essential to keep them out.

Do gaps between new and old neighbouring buildings cause worse problems?

Yes. Voids between different foundation depths create safe corridors for scorpions. Traditional old houses sitting next to modern land grant plots leave narrow, hard-to-seal gaps that scorpions exploit routinely.

If I seal every gap in my flat, will scorpions stop infesting the shop below?

Sealing protects your flat, but the shop below remains exposed and will attract scorpions again. Real protection means treating both shop and flat together and securing the connections between them.

Should the tight gaps between closely built structures be treated on every visit?

Tight gaps need careful, detailed treatment and may require more frequent attention than open spaces. Rubble and vegetation inside them must be cleared first, or the treatment will not reach the scorpions hiding there.

Do quiet residential streets away from the ring road need less frequent treatment?

Quiet, shaded streets actually attract more scorpions because they feel safer there. Treatment frequency should match the risk, not the noise level. Shaded areas are higher risk, not lower.
